We have a door in our living room that leads out to the side of the house. It's actually two doors - the main door, and then a screen door on an itty-bitty porch. It makes it next to impossible to carry out trays of food, or drinks in our hands, when we want to go into the yard. That's our only main-floor access to the backyard, otherwise we'd have to go downstairs through the basement door. We really hate it, and as a result we don't grill out in the yard very often in the summertime.
This is a style thing that can easily be changed, but I hate words on the wall:
I hate how people add color to stuff that should be neutral. Just pick neutral tile/granite-add color accents later. I don't care if you think it's going to be your forever home. Just pick a neutral color. Please. Don't do an accent color a thing that will be a bitch to get out. I love this one house, and they did a beautiful kitchen remodel, but the granite is a dark green. I hate it. I could live with it, but if I'm paying a lot of money, I don't want to get things I have to fix.
Also, popcorn ceilings. If you have popcorn ceilings, you don't get to ask a huge price for your house.
I adore our dark green granite countertops. The previous owners put them in and they are just perfect for the house.
steph96, so you wouldn't like the lavender colored house I saw???
Lol it would be better than my house! We are 98% sure that they went to the mistint section and got all of the whites, greens, yellows, and tans. It's like a baby poop color, but with some lime green mixed in.
Kitchens with a peninsula instead of an island. Especially if there are cabinets above the peninsula. Who thought it would be a great idea to break the sight line from the kitchen sink into the rest of the house?
LOL, I put one in for my last house. It was perfect

Also sliding shower doors. There is no way to keep them clean, from the disgusting track at the bottom to the class that always is covered with calcium water stains
I hate glass doors in general. Is there anyway to keep them clean?

Squeegee!!!!
Allow me to amend.
Is there way to keep them clean that does not require daily effort on my part?

Take your shower first and make your husband squeegee?
Dig Ophelia, is all the woodwork stained the same color? That I might be able to deal with. The slightly differing stains are too much for my need for everything to be matchy matchy.
So many things, and the more houses I look at, the longer the list gets.
No defined entry way. It doesn't have to be a foyer or parlor, but something that makes it clear a door is coming. Front facing garages, unless they are set back from the front of the house. No parking. I need a garage, driveway or something. Wood toned cabinets. I like white or some other painted color. Columns. Ugh. Vessel sinks. Two story living rooms. Bad open floor plans. So many of these. At this point, just have the kitchen open to another room and that's plenty. Tile/marble in a foyer. Split level homes. Homes built in the 70s. I haven't seen one yet that I like.

I feel like a house hunters cliche but so many of the homes I see have issues. I know I can update bathrooms and kitchens, but i shouldn't have to at my price point.
Thanks! It's a lot of work to keep it all clean and dust-free.
Speaking of, sfy -- the only cabinets I have in my kitchen are solid wood, floor to ceiling built-ins that are stained the same dark brown as the rest of the house. You'd hate it! lol
I may have a slight obsession with hardwood.
I love what I see of your house, so who knows! But I am seeing either bad wood cabinets or a very modern style that I don't particularly like.

We did one thing in our first house: remove the glass doors in the shower. Curtain 4 lyfe.
Cape houses. I hate the slanted ceilings in what is usually bedrooms on the second floor. They look great but they're not practical (and I'm not a tall person).

Split Foyers Tri / Quad Levels 2nd floor laundry rooms Bedrooms where one of the measurements is less than 10 (aka 14x9) Houses were the house is as big (or almost as big) as the lot so there's NO back yard - or very little back yard. Yards that slope toward the house
