I've been up since 3:30. I watched two full Lifetime movies, gone grocery shopping, done a few hours of work and started my meal prep for the week. It's not even 10am here yet. I predict a crash and burn coming on. I just cannot get my sleep oriented well.
I am excited because I started a modified 21-fix plan. Basically I use all of the measurements for proteins, fruit veggies and carbs, but I ignore the limits on fats and will use some products that have some sugar, like I made a honey sesame chicken. I won't though go hog wild on nut butters (only allowing a max of 2tbls per day) and I would count say hummus as a protein. I'm also not going to do any dairy. For those of you who have done the plan, (starburst604 and abcdefu) do you think I'm totally screwing myself here? My plan is (all measured by the containers): -Green smoothie in the morning (protein powder, spinach, frozen fruit) -Chicken lettuce wraps for lunch -Honey sesame chicken, roasted cauliflower, and brown rice for dinner -Banana with almond butter for dessert (if needed, there is a TON of food already)
So when I use hummus as a protein, I also consider it as a half of a carb container due to the composition of chickpeas. I rather a half an avocado (because when I mooshed it up in the blue that's what it came to and not 1/4) than dairy any day. a banana is both fruit containers. so try and half your banana then use the other half of the banana (freeze it) in your morning smoothie. As a vegetarian, I was finding it hard to get enough protein. I still tracked my calories on MFP to see the macros. I discovered mixing plain Greek yogurt and a scoop of protein powder was super awesome as a desert so I added that dairy back in. Cheese is too addicting and delicious to keep in the house so I've eliminated that but keeping the plain yogurt. I'm a snacker by nature. This is what I look like today: bfast- Protein powder with unsweetened almond milk S1- Hummus w/ veg Lunch- Veg patty, 2 veg containers, rice S2- Blueberries/ 1 shot of protein Dinner- 1/2 roast cabbage, Greek yogurt with 1/2 scoop protein powder
4.5 protein 1.5 carb 1 fruit 5 veg (traded a fruit for a veg) 2 tsp if you want, count hummus as the fat too.
drinks: Coffee with stevia/milk amino acid supplement water
I'm glad you have modified to keep your diet sustainable long term. I am mostly concerned with getting my protein in and limiting my carbs. I feel like this is what the containers are for, portion control and increasing portions of the good variety.
@pdx18 - I started a modified plan as well so it wasn't such a big change for me as I wouldn't get as frustrated. I don't do much dairy due to lactose issues, but I do lactose free yogurt, milk, etc. I also don't do the workouts.
I try to treat the containers like guidelines. Some days I don't use the carb container at all. Some days I eat more than 4 servings of vegetables, but my body feels so energized.
I dont think you need to follow a strict regimen to see results. Tweaking the plan isn't going to throw you off unless you're eating ice cream every night or something like that. If you do what works for you and see results, that is what is going to motivate you more and eventually eliminate more things as you feel comfortable!
abcdefu that's good to know! I'm definitely not throwing any ice cream or anything in! I just like a little sauce on things so a bit of honey, a little bit of hoisin sauce (all measured). I mean I know I should eliminate all sugars, but slow and steady. And I'm glad to hear you don't eat all the carbs either. I'm going to let myself this week, but I feel like I might end up eliminating most of those. I'm already over the reccomended cups of vegetables so that's good! I'm so glad to hear it's working for you! Please share any good recipes you come across!

I installed my headboard! It was a minor pain and required a trip to the hardware store, but alas, I did it myself! Here it is:
I went to the dentist this morning for the first time in a looooong time. On the good side, I have no new cavities. On the bad side, two existing fillings are starting to get cavities under them. So I need to budget to save some money to get those fixed in the coming months. I'm doing laundry now. I need to go for a run, straighten up my room, and clean my bathroom this evening. I also need to look at my personal budget, but ugh, I don't wanna.
I haven't heard anything from the recruiter yet about the mgmt job. It's been a week and I know the director wants it filled ASAP.
In other news, she (director) called me in to her office and asked me to be our department "champion" for our move to the new building. It's currently being built and is expected to be done in the the spring of 2017 and the company is really going all out and putting mega $$$ into this. Anyway, I will basically be the contact point and/or spokesperson for our department. I'm pretty excited!!
I just emailed my LL that we are moving out in 30 days (it will actually be less than that). He's a jerk and I'm waiting for him to get a nasty attitude. Ugh.
I booked a mover! In order to get our things in a reasonable time once we arrive, we need to have all of our stuff ready to go about 8 days before we actually move. We will stay at my mom's house for our last week in NY.
I feel like we were planning to do all of these things in the city before we left and the time has just crept up on us. Now we're down to crunch time and have to purge, pack, clean etc and will have little free time. I guess that's the way it goes.
On a brighter note, we already have tickets to 2 events in our new area!
