For those of you who have not yet participated in Camp NaNo, it is similar in idea to regular NaNo but set in a spring or summer month. In recent years it has settled on April & July, but the first year (2011, I believe it was July & August. There are a couple noticeable differences you might want to know about.
The main thing is that you can set your own word count goal. The only restrictions are that it must be at least 10 000 words and no more than 999 999 words. If 50k didn’t work for you, here is your chance to bend the goal to best suit your needs. Additionally, any sort of project works for Camp (novel, collection of short stories, memoir, draft completion, whatever).
Something neat about Camp NaNo is the Cabins. In these you are either assigned to people based on age, genre, or goals as you specify OR you can choose cabin mates if you have their usernames. It seems like cabin assignments go out on MARCH 24th (at least the first batch) so if there is interest in a board cabin we would need to decide sometime in that time frame.
Now that we're all caught up...
Is anybody planning on participating in this camp session? If so, do you have a project picked out yet? Are you choosing between some? Let us know!
Okay, I am really not ignoring you guys. I will be back and I will participate. Keep in touch, I just have some personal stuff on a deadline (relocation, selling and buying a house, etc) Thanks for continuing to include me.
Real life got intense mid-November and hasn't let up since, but I'm still really interested in this board and in writing. Keep tagging me, and I'll jump back into the fray as soon as I'm able!
I'm in! I'll be doing my rewrite/second draft of my November novel. We should be settled into the new house right now and I should be able to crank out some good stuff.

It’s so busy in here all of a sudden. I’m unreasonably excited about this.
Pom , nsl , I'm glad you don't mind still being tagged. Whenever life settles down and you are ready to come back we will be glad to have you!
mousemelon , incogneato , lilibet I'm glad to see that the three of you are at least considering participating.
I have already created a novel (it is connected to the main site so you will use your same info) and have a cabin. Once you create a novel I will be able to add you to the cabin if you are interested.
If you already know what you are going to be writing and don’t mind sharing, tell us about your: - Title - Word count goal - A basic plot overview/summary
If you are doing a re-write: - When did you last read the original draft? Do you intend to re-read it sometime this month? - What do you like about the last draft that you want to keep? - What are the main changes you want to make?
If you are doing something new: - How specific is the idea you are working with? - How long have you had this idea? - How much pre-writing/planning do you intend to do before the end of the month?
And if you do not know what you’re doing yet, don’t worry. There is a full four weeks left until the Camp starts and in novel-writing terms, that is nearly a full NaNo!

I just created my account. I couldn't remember my old one haha. Look for MouseMelon13 and that's me!
Title: London Calling Word Count Goal: 50,000 (because I'm nuts) Basic plot: She never meant to fall in love with a prince. In fact, she never meant to fall in love with anyone. But as soon as the dashing red headed prince sauntered into her life, everything was turned upside down and Emmalin McKinnon began to question everything she had thought she wanted. When tragedy strikes, Emmalin is forced to reevaluate the entire plan she had set out for her life.
I'm doing a re-write of my Novel from this year. I reread the last draft a few nights ago. It was horrid. I skipped a lot. But I'll reread it once again before I get started. I like the basic plot line and the twist at the end. Well, two twists at the end. I'll be keeping those. I'd like it to be better...hahaha. My original doesn't seem to flow well, so I want to go in sequence this time instead of jumping around in hopes of coming up with a better flow and some deeper sub-plots and more detail.

You have been added to the group. As for the added... agreed lol.
As for me: - Title: Heir Apparent (this was originally the title for book 2 of 2, but I'm sticking with it for now since this may end up as one book)
- Word count goal: 50,000. Because why not?
- A basic plot overview/summary: It is set in an unnamed, made up European monarchy in the 1920s. Political revolutionaries are gaining traction, which Elena doesn't realize until she takes a job working for the king's younger brother. By the time things get bad, she is entangled with the family... especially Alexander, the handsome prince who is 5th in line for the throne.
- When did you last read the original draft? Do you intend to re-read it sometime this month? I skimmed book 1 earlier this week. I have definitely improved in my writing, plotting, and... well, everything, since I wrote the original in 2008. I was very young and it was my first novel so that's too be expected but it was a bit painful. I plan on going over the 2nd half this weekend.
- What do you like about the last draft that you want to keep? I still really love the plot. I still really like the inspiration I got, which resulted in me working backwards from the end and plotting my way back.
- What are the main changes you want to make? Characterization, writing, subplots, pacing, etc. I've had 10 NaNo month wins since I left these characters so re-reading made me think I can do everything better. I'm also aging up the characters ~5 years now that I'm older. I'm going in with an outline of more than the first few chapters to ensure the revolution doesn't get pushed aside for romance again. And I have realized that figuring out how to execute the twist at the end in more than the vaguest of ways is important! (Yeah, that never got written. It's been 6.5 years since I wrote the rest of that part. *sigh*)
Knowing how I work best and what does not work for me will hopefully make this a vast, vast improvement of the first go.
I haven't decided if I'm doing Camp NaNo yet. I have one project I need to revise for the first time, one I need to revise for the second time, and another couple of projects I need to finish the first drafts on. I can't decide whether Camp NaNo would help me, nor do I know which project I'd focus on for the month.
I'm being very flippy-floppy about this. Every other day, I make a different decision. lol

Understandable! That is a lot going on at once. Which of those projects are part of the trilogy you are working on and which ones are not?

Ummmm...*does the math* the two things I need to revise are part of the trilogy, as well as one of the first drafts. I just have a couple other first drafts of WIPs I've been screwing around with that I want to at least get around to typing "the end" on, even if I don't go further in them as far as editing and revising.

Two weeks left and I haven't done anything since I last posted. :/ Anybody else have any thoughts or progress (or lack thereof...) that they want to share?
Unfortunately, my writing has gone by the wayside in the midst of house hunting.
BUT, I did finally register for the writers conference I go to every year (Write Stuff in Allentown, PA), which is happening in early April. So at least I got that done.
So I randomly started editing my NaNo novel from this past year and now I definitely want to do Camp Nano. Can you add me in? Also, I started working part time, but then picked up another part time job for fun and it's been crazy. But things are settling down and I'm finding myself wanting to edit/write again! I'll PM you my name.

fatamy you have been added. incogneato I tried adding the one you used for NaNo but didn't have any luck. Have you started a new account?
I can't believe there's only 7 days until it starts. I have to read the second half of my first draft, which was written 7 years ago or so. The first was worse than I remembered so at least I can only go up on the re-write, even if I haven't entirely figured out parts of the plot. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.
Thanks anastasia517, just logged in and joined the cabin! I'm still not exactly sure what I'm going to do.... the idea of a NaNo month is daunting... Hmmm
I'm so happy other people are doing Camp! I always wind up in the quietest cabin and it's hard to stick with it.
- Title- Sweet Pea - Word count goal- 20,000 - A basic plot overview/summary- I'm not sure if it's a coming of age story really. I'm not sure if my main character is going to stay six years old or if she'll grow up during the course of the story.
If you are doing something new: - How specific is the idea you are working with? It's kind of specific. I have my main character and her family and some of the conflict set up. But where it goes from there is pretty up in the air. I'm a pantser. - How long have you had this idea? I've been playing with it for about a year now. - How much pre-writing/planning do you intend to do before the end of the month? I've been writing scenes with these characters for a little while, kind of just getting to know them. But I don't plan to do much more before camp starts.
I decided about a week ago to do actually participate in camp. I live on the edge. So now I'm going to use the month to try to finish, or at least get a good start on, these two novellas that I've been trying to get done that are related to my trilogy.
