Disclaimer - I'm not that stylish, but I am trying to be. I find inspiration on Pinterest. I try to really think hard about a certain overall theme for my clothing purchases. I've also found that it is a ton of work. I basically need to buy a new wardrobe each season to add interest, change styles and replace worn items. I also try to get a few, classic major pieces that can stand the test of time. Like a classic, high end bag and a really nice watch. I always try to make sure that my shoes are in good condition. It helps that I work in a business casual environment so I get the chance to wear blouses/skirts/blazers, which to me looks quite stylish when done right.
Anyone can learn! I feel as though I've always been stylish - I went to college for fashion merchandising although it's not even close to what I do now!
A good place to start is checking out lots of blogs or pinterest inspiration boards a lot of the girls here have both. A friend of mine goes into a store she likes and buys 3 or 4 outfits directly off of the mannequin to help inspire her. Most important is the fit of the items, if a piece fits beautifully you always ALWAYS look pulled together.
Oh and I freakin love the InSyle section where they have a color of the month and it's best pairings, I get some great color combo's I wouldn't have thought of from there!
Yes, you can learn. I think I learned from my mother and grandmother. They started it. Putting together good looking outfits daily and especially for church on Sunday and special events were important. Being clean and looking good and groomed were very important. I was not allowed to go out of the house wearing just anything. Even wearing sweatpants outside of doing a physical activity was not allowed. So basically being frumpy wasn't allowed. My mom and grandmother were both fashionable in their time. I can't say they've kept up with current fashions but they both look good. I learned from them about wearing colors that looked good on me and wearing clothes that fit and flattered my shape. I took it to the next level by looking at fashion magazines while growing up. I wanted to keep up with the trends. Now I am a little trendy but mostly I just wear what looks good on me. I know what I like and what I look good in. And I don't like to look frumpy. It's actually quite easy to switch out sneakers for a knee high boot or add cute accessories if you know what you like and what looks good on you. I like the suggestions above about looking at Pinterest. There are lots of ideas out there to try until you find what works for you. And post in OOTD and ask for feedback if you want it.
I wouldn't consider myself stylish, but I'm the "fashionista" amongst my friends and family. But that doesn't say much, ha!
But it's definitely something I've learned. I feel I dress better now in my 30s after 3 kids than I did in my 20s before kids. Mostly thanks to this board and blogs and the like.

ditto this!! and for sure, this board and pinterest have helped....where before i might not know how to incorporate something like a utility vest into my wardrobe, seeing it on real people helps place in my lifestyle!
I think anyone can be stylish!! The question is what is "stylish" to you?
It also takes some energy. Some days I don't have the time or brain capacity to come up with something cute, so I pick an old standby outfit. The trick is to make sure your "standby" outfits are classics that are made well, and can be changed up with accessories.

Nope, I have not always been stylish, but I always admired women who were, and I've loved fashion forever. It was hard as a teen and 20-something because I had no money. Similar to what busybody said, I embrace always trying to look your best. The most insane thing I hear is women saying "when I LOSE WEIGHT..." That drives me NUTS. You need to look your best at every weight, every age, and every stage of life. Otherwise, it's called FRUMPY, and that's not a good look.
