Anyone have gallbladder issues after having a baby? I have pain on the right side under my rib cage. I haven't gone to the doc yet, not even sure what they do.
I started having attacks while pregnant, and they wanted to wait until I delivered.to take it out. Then after giving birth I felt fine for a couple of months. The attacks came back with a vengeance and my GI doc sent me for a gallbladder function test (already had an ultrasound while pregnant, no stones just sludge). I am currently in denial and avoidance mode trying to put surgery off as long as possible.
Yes. I have been putting off going in because I really don't want to have to think about another hospital stay, pumping and dumping, and potential complications like before. I promised DH I would go after DS turned 6 months but I haven't made an appointment yet.
Apparently it is very common. Tx is usually removal.
Thanks. I should make an appointment. I do not want surgery or more medical junk to deal with- I was on strict bed rest almost 3 months with dd. just done with doctors and their bills.
My attacks started 2 months after my first was born. Don't put it off because it won't get better and can lead to issues with your pancreas. Most are laprsocopic outpatient. Shoot, my mom had hers out on a Thursday and was in the Dominican Republic on Saturday.

I had mine out before I got pregnant, but I heard its common. The surgery isn't bad and I felt so much better after I got it out. If you get gallstones it isn't like they will pass and go away. If anything, they move somewhere else and cause bigger problems. A simple ultrasound will diagnose if you have gallstones. Good luck.
I have not been pregnant, but had mine removed a week ago in anticipation of a pregnancy, because pregnancy aggravates it. It was an outpatient surgery. The first few days were painful, but I am almost back to normal now. Definitely get it out before you get pregnant again.
