speed dating?

I'm feeling burned out on the apps.

Has anyone tried speed dating?  Curious to hear about experiences, good and bad.  Not sure how to find events other than just googling my city and speed dating??

I went last year. Found it on a meetup group. Definitely go with a friend if you can, it helped the nerves. I was surprised that the guys I scoped out beforehand and thought were cute we just didn't click in the brief conversation and the ones I didn't give a second look were my yes's. I went out on 3 dates with a guy I met there.

I am not really in a place to pursue a relationship. But I had a lot of fun at the event, and it seemed like all the guys there were there to find something real vs. hooking up...which is why I didn't get back to any of my matches. They shouldn't have to deal with me yet. Lol.

When I'm ready it seems like a fun thing to try! I'll remember to bring a friend. I've seen meetups that are involved with them so maybe check out singles oriented meetups in your area?

Ok good to know about bringing a friend although I have absolutely no idea who I'd bring.

Most people there are with a friend? Even the guys?

I almost feel like if I didn't bring a friend it would force me to interact more.

I don't know that most people are with a friend, I am just really introverted and uncomfortable in situations with a lot of strangers when I don't know anyone, so for me to relax it was helpful to have a familiar face. The one I went to seemed to be a good mix of people their solo and people there with a friend.

You are forced to interact for at least a couple of minutes with each guy in a one on one setting, so having a friend there didn't distract from that at all. We stayed afterwards and mingled with a few different groups and including other ladies. Overall it was a very fun and positive experience.

I actually made 2 girlfriends when I went. I matched with 3 guys but they all fizzled out while still in the texting stage.

Still hang out with the girlfriends though. So that's cool.
