I usually do my own taxes, but we sold an out of state rental last year, and I don't want to fuck that up. But I also don't want to pay someone hundreds of dollars to do my taxes.
Yes, we use it each year. I love that they hold my prior year information for me and they walk you through everything step-by-step. My taxes are more complicated than some (I have K-1s, estimated tax payments and a lot of itemized deductions), but turbo tax really makes it easy to file them myself.

Very easy. It walks you through everything. I used to pay an accountant to do our personal taxes, since I'm self-employed and he did my business taxes so I thought he would be good at it, but I once I switched to turbo tax I owed much less. I think he missed stuff. I'll never go back.
Does Turbo Tax tell you when it is done if you are better off filing as married or married filing separately? Or do I have to do it all one way, clear everything out and do it again the other way?
I use Turbo Tax and Tax Act to compare to see what gives me the best refund. You can put in all the information before paying so why not utilize that other than the time it will take you to input information.

I used H&R Block because Turbo Tax wanted me to pay them to itemize my deductions. H&R Block let me do this for free. Both are very user friendly though.
Love it - this will be the first year we'll use the home and business software. H is nervous and we're having an accountant friend look over our shoulders to make sure we got it right.
I've been using it for the last 10+ years. Its so user friendly and each year it seems to get easier to use with new functions they roll out. Also, I gladly pay the extra fee for them to do my state taxes for me.

We just got our taxes done today and walking out I said to DH that next year we should just use Turbo Tax. Our tax situation is really straightforward and we still paid $205. DH's family has been using this accountant for years but I don't have a loyal bone in my body when it comes to $205.
Yes! We made the mistake of going to H&R Block this year, and H was so mad that we paid out the ass for them to do exactly what he has done every other year through Turbo Tax (we were dealing with a local tax situation this year, which is the only reason we sought out H&RB).

I think if you have easy taxes then it is easy and works good. We used to use it and then DH started exercising stock options in an Employee purchase plan and it got complicated quick and TT didn't calculate the tax correctly. we now use an accountant and feel it's worth the money we pay.

We use HR block online and it's super easy. Look for online coupon codes. You don't have to pay until you file, so you can use it to check Turbo Tax too.

Im a CPA. Turbo tax is fine if you know what you're doing. You sold property out of state, it can get complicated quickly. While having someone for it for you can get expensive, it could save you money in the long run if you make a mistake that had to be corrected. Then there's interest and penalties that you would owe if you underreport income.
