My eyelid won't stop twitching, and when I went to my chiropractor this afternoon she told me to go drink coconut water- that the magnesium should fix it.
I had to chug like 1/4 of the bottle because it made me want to gag. Is there a secret? Do people add stuff to it to make it taste better? Its the Vita coco brand. I'm supposed to finish this whole thing and I don't think I can.
Yeah, it's not great but I like it when I'm thirsty and it's super cold. David, who is super picky, loves it. He prefers the unflavored kind which is crazy. I especially drink it or give it do David when we're sick to stay hydrated.
Every time we see someone examining the giant cases of coconut water at Costco, my husband asks them if they've had it before. If they say no, he's like, "You should REALLY try it before buying that much. Seriously."
I've never tried it, but if it helps with your twitch, let me know; I've had this eyebrow twitch for like 3 weeks now.
I mean, I chugged 1/4 of this 16.9oz bottle....and my eyelid is not twitching any more. I don't know if this is just a natural break in the twitching, but it had been twitching almost non stop since yesterday.
My chiro also said that if this didn't work to go get Natural Calm at a health food store (http://naturalvitality.com/natural-calm/) and mix it with some water as directed, drink most, but spread a little on my eyelid. She said that will make it stop almost immediately.
She also mentioned the other stuff (less caffeine, more sleep) but I am already doing that stuff.
Can you just take a supplement or does that not work as well? (I know sometimes vitamins and minerals are easier to absorb in food.)
I don't know. She is usually pro supplement and will tell me specific brands of stuff to take....so I'm not sure why she suggested the coconut water rather than just magnesium. I wonder if I need to be careful how much I take. I should look into this..... lol
Back when I was fit and running, I would drink it instead of gatorade on long runs. But I could only choke it down if it was mixed with juice. I couldn't stand the taste of it by itself either. It's like drinking dirty water.
I barely choke down the one that has pineapple juice mixed in. I use it to make juice smoothies with frozen fruit.
This is honestly the best idea if you can do the taste alone. I make a green pb&j smoothie with the chocolate coconut water that's really good. (Just add spinach, frozen grapes and peanut butter).

Once at Costco, 2 ladies were standing near each other doing samples. One was Vita coconut water and the other was carrot juice. Seriously, the most disgusting 3 minutes of my life.
I have to say that it helped tremendously with my charlie horses. I was having them every night in the middle of the night. One glass later no more charlie horses. Straight Potassium.

I take magnesium supplements as well as elemental potassium when I'm running hard and often, training for a race. Helps with muscle relaxation. You can also take Natural Calm, a powdered magnesium that you add to water. It's good with a little juice or fruit concentrate added. Coconut water is nasty.
