I did our taxes last night with Turbo Tax. So easy. We sold a rental property, and I had no idea how that would work out tax-wise. It worked out really, really well for us.
This week has been a disaster. G got sick on Saturday with the stomach bug that's been going around. I got it Sunday afternoon. C got is Sunday night. H got it early Monday morning. By Tuesday, the adults were better. By Wednesday, C was better. Here we are on Friday, and while G doesn't have the bug anymore, his stomach is so messed up that he hasn't had a solid poop in a week.
H and I have been taking turns working from home with him. I just want the little guy to get better! This was supposed to be his first full week of daycare.
I just had the cutest thing ever happen at daycare dropoff. I was walking ds across the circle driveway bus dropoff area up to the front door at the same time another mom was walking her 2 kids (2ish and maybe 5?) from a parking spot off to the left. DS saw her kids right as he was about to step up onto the curb, and just froze (he has major Big Kid Awe) with one foot up on the curb, staring at the older boys. The other mom kept telling her older boy to get up on the sidewalk, but he kept walking right along the edge of the road toward DS, and I figured he was just going to say hello. NOPE. HE WALKED UP TO DS, TOOK HIS HAND, AND HELPED HIM UP ONTO THE SIDEWALK. I died. It was just so sweet and adorable and unexpected. Like I almost teared up. lol

Ugh that's the worst. I feel like ds always gets over the pukes the fastest, but it takes a good 10 days before his poops are normal again. I push lots of applesauce with probiotics, and that seems to help. The last round we cut it down to I think 4 days after the bug until he was normal again.

We started probiotics last night. I got drops and am doing them twice a day for a while till things are normal. I've been trying to get this kid to eat bananas, applesauce, and yogurt all week but he wants NONE OF IT. He'll down an entire avocado or bag of grapes, or cheese cubes or ham, but none of the stuff he's "supposed" to eat.
H has started filing our taxes and we are getting a large chunk back, I think this is our largest return to date. We could have definitely used the money through the year but yay.
Also, I think H and I have heavily leaning towards adopting rather than another IVF cycle/egg donor. I am so scared, but I think this is helping me feel better about whatever the results for the genetic test results end up being.
Oh, and we are trying a local butcher tonight! We usually pick up meat from the grocery store but I heard amazing things about this place. The things that excite me. lol
Getting my skin check done this morning. Or not, they never called me to confirm, so I'm going and we'll see.
Hitting target with the kids tonight and then doing pizza/popcorn/movie night tonight instead of tomorrow because I'm going to be singing my ass off in front of a packed house tomorrow night
Oh and I am so conflicted about a work thing. There is someone who has been assigned to my accounts in our internal purchasing department, and she is making my life so. much. harder. I've been here just shy of 10 years now, and it has never been so much of a problem to get my orders fulfilled. In like 4 weeks there have been over 10 orders with issues, from minor (requiring 4 or 5 back-and-forth emails to get it done) to major (she canceled an order and didn't tell me, so I didn't know until it was late arriving, which will end up costing me an extra WEEK of time). I've been really patient with her and trying to figure out why things are suddenly so problematic, but she hasn't once taken accountability or made efforts to fix the issues. Yesterday there was a moderately problematic issue, and when I asked her about it, she was completely unhelpful. In the end I asked her please not to take any additional action on the order and that I would fix the problem myself (to ensure it got done correctly, though I didn't say that in the email). I would have LIKED her to take some accountability for the mistake in a full sense, or even a vague "sorry for the inconvenience" or SOMETHING. But her reply of, "sounds good thanks" pushed me over the damn edge and I think I'm going to have to talk to her supervisor. This should not be this damn hard!
So at C's well child check up yesterday his Dr. referred us to a place to have him evaluated for his sensory and anxiety issues. Part of me worries it's too early, some of this stuff will work itself out, but on the other hand if there are things we can do to help him now I want to. Plus sometimes it feels like it's getting worse as he gets older not better. I'm feeling very defeated about it all and sad. He is such a sweet kid and I don't want him to struggle.
H thinks he has "a flu", and now I am coughing up a lung today. I have off on Monday and have big plans to lay around and not be sick, so I'm going to be really mad if I catch whatever he does have. I'm also dreading L catching anything from him, ugh. He finally stayed home from work today and said he's going to open up all of the windows to air things out, so hopefully he'll be feeling well enough to disinfect while he's at it.
I am off of birth control as of the last pack I finished almost two weeks ago, and I still feel all bloated and weird. I'm sort of disappointed, too, because I don't think my weigh-in at WW is going to be that great on Sunday, even though I've come in UNDER my Points every day this week. Blergh.
I'm trying to decide if I want to leave at 1:00 today. It's supposed to be nearly 70* without wind so I want to go home and sit outside. Except that I will probably end up cleaning house or something instead.
I'm still waiting on my federal return. It's been over 21 days. What gives, IRS?
I have another interview today - for the Behavioral Generalist position. I really want this job. It's A combination of the things I am most passionate about - food and working with the ID/DD community.
I was called back for a second interview for the fine dining place. I want to say it's easily the fanciest (touristy) spot in the city of San Diego. There's a view of downtown, balboa park, the mountains, and the water. It's gorgeous. I'd be the Pastry Chef's sous. Excellent place to work. Stable. But, had to commit to working the entire month of december and thxgiving weekend.
My weekend is focused on DIY Bathroom stuff, I'm busting at the seams to get started. THEN, this morning, my bathroom faucet handle broke off! So now I have to add that to my list. lol.

LOL, it's like the fixture equivalent of, "hey, while you're up....?"

I was secretly happy, the faucet was ugly!
I'm eyeing this!
Ooooh pretty. What is your water like? I love those faucets but always worry that the little channel area will get gunked up with calcium deposits like the underside of a typical faucet does at my house. Although, it would be easier to see/clean/stay on top of, I suppose.
Wore laundry day underwear to my skin check, new doc is young and cute. OF COURSE.
Naturally. But wait, why are you wearing underwear anyway? They gotta check yer crack!
Here, they tend to defer that to your ob/gyn. Even my former (female) derm wouldn't, she'd say "make sure you tell your OB/GYN to look for any weird spots down there and if she finds anything document it.".

iiiinteresting. Mine have a division of labor. OBGYN gets the general crotch area, but the butt is all the derm's problem.
Well then, try to find some comfort in the fact that hot doc just saw less-than-sexy underoos instead of having to be all up in yo business?
silva, have you used a faucet like that before? I LOVE the way they look, but hate actually using them. The water just kind of falls out of the one my at my parents' house. There's no pressure, so it's annoying for brushing teeth. For a powder room, I think it's nice, but personally, I wouldn't want it in a master/main bath. I was so disappointed when I used my moms.
I got my surgery scheduled for 2 weeks from today. I'm excited, but it's Easter weekend. Not excited about that. They still didn't budge on the handicap tag, but I'm happy enough, I guess, with the earlier date. I remembered I have a "hold-on handle" that we hooked to the stroller when DS2 was born. I hooked it to my crutch & feel better about the situation. Still not good, but at least I don't feel stuck in my house.

My faucet is like this! Except instead of the level it 2 separate knobs for hot & cold. And it's silver. We have hard water and rust and it hasn't gotten gunked up yet but it's only about a year old. I love it.

... how do you brush your teeth that requires water pressure? I'm feeling seriously dumb right now.
Glad you got an earlier surgery date and found a way to feel comfortable getting around a bit until then!
FastHands, I feel like it takes forever to get all of the toothpaste out of the toothbrush at the end. It might just be in my head, though. Without the "shhhhhh" sound of the water, I feel less clean.
And your previous comment about the buildup is also true at their house. It's not awful, but it is a pain.

My H is in Mississippi and going out to Cock of the Walk for dinner tonight. I'M SO JEALOUS!!!! Fried catfish, fried dill pickles, cornbread, hushpuppies...

Thanks. This would be for my bathroom, which while small, is a full bath. My water pressure is low to begin with too, so that changes my mind. Back to shopping!
