At the age of 5, DS mainly wanted to swim in the pool at our resort... . I don't think he really "got" Disney. He loved the rides, had a blast at the parks, but he LOVED playing in the pool.
My oldest will be 5 when we go and he wants to go on Dumbo, Buzz light year, everything in AK, especially the dinosaur stuff, and tomorrowland speedway.
My 3 year old wants to do everything his brother does
Our last visit the girls were just 6 and just 3. Meeting princesses, swimming, mickey waffles, and classics like dumbo & IASW & teacups were top for both. The 6 year old was super psyched to be tall enough to ride the mine coaster, splash, thunder & space mountains.
They did love all of that and in addition the highlights were the jungle cruise, living with the land, the safari, the lion king show, kali river rapids, maelstrom, figment.
Everyone loves the people mover.
Playing in random fountains. The baby gorilla in AK.
chilerellanos, it's one of my faves. I could ride it all day long. I think you get to see the action but you're cool and relaxed. And it's just retro-y enough to feel like Walt would be on it.
When the train pulls into the station and everyone starts singing? Goosebumps!
My husband just looked over my shoulder and is teasing me for talking about this. Lol
Tell your husband that Disney is the Happiest Place on Earth and if he has anything other than "HELL YES IT IS," then he can come have a little chat with me. ;-)
DD is 3.5 -- she really wants to have breakfast with Anna and Elsa, but she doesn't really know what to expect yet.
DS is almost 6 and he wants to meet Stitch and do the Test Track at Epcot and also do the Dinosaur ride. I hear it's dark, loud, and scary, so I don't know how to tell him he's probably not going on it.....
We went when Ben was 15 months. He would have ridden the carousel all day. DH and I got on the line in separate spots and handed him off so he could ride over and over. We have a FREE carousel near our house so I was unamused.

I find Dinosaur to be fucking terrifying. I've been on it twice and refuse to ever go again. My 4yo makes fun of me for it, lol. He loves it.
I don't need to see it every Mk day or anything, but it's cute and magical!

So i was very eye rolly at our whole trip (we went with my sis and her kids....dh and i have no kids)...so we went to rope drop and DH turns to me asking where we are meeting the family that day and i am crying. Like legit happy tears crying. The train. The mayor. The special family to open the park. I was a pile of pixie dust and floated through the rest of the trip.

My son is 5. His favorite things to do at WDW are probably swimming at Stormalong Bay (which is why we keep going back to Yacht and Beach Club), and going to the place in Epcot where you can try sodas from around the world, which I think is hilarious, but we have to go there at least twice during each trip.
His favorite rides are the Buzz and Toy Story rides, Jungle Cruise, Tomorrowland Speedway, and the People Mover. He also likes the MSEP.
We took DS at 8 months and he loved the teacups. It was so cute. He also LOVED Pluto. He pretty much slept through everything else.
I think we're taking him again at 20 months, and I'm very excited! I think he's going to be pretty into it (as much as a kid his age can be anyway) this time.

We took youngest daughter to DL for the first time when she was 8 months, and she didn't sleep all day....from opening to closing. She loved everything except the Big Bad Wolf licking her head. She just looked around and took it all in, and as my dad carried her through the exit her eyes finally shut.
My oldest grandson loved The Enchanted Tiki Room and anything with music, (shows, rides parades), as long as it wasn't too loud when he was that age. I took him to DL once a week and had so much fun with him. He enjoyed The Haunted mansion too, but he started a fear phase when he was 2 1/2 and didn't like anything that was dark or loud for years. Now that he is older, he is all about Star Tours, Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, etc., and is up for anything.
Well, I don't tell my kids before they wake up that we are going so they can't really register opinions bc it's already all been planned. I also don't tell them all the options so they don't know what they are messing.
That said, my oldest loved Star Tours on our last visit & that barnstormer goofy rollercoaster. It was his first rollercoaster & he felt so brave! But there was like zero wait so he did it 3x in a row. We were also there for the Osborne Family light show & he loved it. He also enjoys sharing my dessert from the dining plan 2x/day.
