I only know a) but I think that's my choice. Yes, L is a crappy sleeper (but is so much better than he used to be) but he is such a genuinely happy soul and is usually just a delight to be around so I think I'd still choose him, crappy sleep and all.

Oh, but I totally would trade it a couple of IQ points or some level of "cuteness" for better sleep, but I don't think I'd mess with his generally sunny disposition.

I'd rather a happy kid during the day. None of my kids have been good sleepers but none were particularly miserable during the day so it's worked for me this far. Coffee is my friend. A miserable colicky baby would require more-like anxiety medication.

My son was happy when awake and did not like sleeping. Since I was a sahm I am glad that he was a happy baby during the day because it made the day pleasant. Yes the sleep deprivation was hard but looking back it was such a short period of time in the scheme of things. Plus he stopped taking naps completely at 12 months old so having a happy baby really helped since I didn't get any breaks during the day.

I have a happy crappy sleeper and I think I'd prefer that. At the beginning I had neither, and I think the fussiness was harder on me than the sleep deprivation. It felt so all encompassing - I just couldn't make her happy.
I'll take 2 short wakeups with happy daytime. But ONLY because I can usually get back to sleep easily since being on antidepressants.
2 short wake ups does not equal crappy sleeper!!!
SO MUCH MUST BE NICE
Hah! Honestly we're down to two wake ups at 9 months and I still identify as "mom of crappy sleeper" because those rough months were so insane. Plus people still look at us with pity when we tell them our 9 month old doesn't STTN.

Happy baby who doesn't sleep well. I feel like an unhappy baby would be pretty exhausting. I can function on little sleep. I would assume I could take a nap on the weekends when my DH was home or even have my mom come over for me to nap if i was that sleep deprived.
Well I have a mostly crabby dd who generally STTN so that's my pick. Maybe it's a chicken or egg thing. I need sleep so I can deal with her but maybe a few wake ups wouldn't kill me if she was a happy camper? Ugh. I'd probably drink less wine too
As much as I love sleep, I pick A. DD has been an A from the start. It's why I loved the NB phase even though she used to wake up every 3 hours on the dot.
2 wakeups isn't so bad, but a 90 minute time awake! Sounds so awful.
WELCOME TO MY LYFE.
His latest routine is to be up from about 1-3 am or 2-4 am, OR up at 11 and awake for the day at 4 am. He's fed, changed, not in pain MOTN, just wants to hang out and screams bloody murder if I put him down.

DS slept pretty well at night, was shit for naps, and was pretty unpleasant during waking hours for the first months of his life but I almost think I'd pick that again just because I know I survived it once. Of course my next baby will be a unicorn all around...

Well... Dd never slept through the night regularly until this week when she's been sick and so crabby. She's so unlike herself during the day, clinging and fussy but then almost all week she s slept all night. If you ask me during the day I'd say I'd rather have my happy baby back. If you ask me at night I'd say I love the sleep, lol I've been loosing it on lack of sleep Dd is 10 months. Tough call. But honestly I prefer her happy, she's been so miserable this week
Happy when awake. That's DD. She's the sweetest, easiest baby. But she's 1yo and only STTN 3 times in her life. For a looooong time, she was up 2-3x. Knock on wood, her sleep has been great the last two weeks, she only wakes once around 4 to eat then back to sleep until 7ish. Fine by me!
