What exactly is the Jedi Training at HS, and how long does it take/last? I'm trying to decide if it's worth signing my 5-year old up for it. He loves Star Wars, but he has a short attention span.
At Disneyland they get a light saber and Jedi robe (not to keep) and learn some moves with the light saber then they "battle" Darth Vader or Darth Maul. The whole thing is maybe like 15 minutes... I haven't done it but have watched it many times I can't wait to take DD when she turns 4 next month she will LOVE it

OMG, yes, you have to sign him up for it if he likes Star Wars at all. They first get all the kids together over by the Indiana Jones ride and hand out robes. They then parade the kids around HS over to the stage. That part alone is so cute. The kids get up on stage and two jedi's give lessons to the kids, teach them how to use the force, etc. and then each one gets a chance to "battle" Darth or Seventh Sister.
The best part is they have a Memory Maker photographer there, so you don't have to worry about getting pics.

Make sure you go sign her up like as the park opens. Brady was put on the wait list the last time we went I was bummed because he was 2 kids too late.

You need to sign up pretty much when the park opens. We ate a pre-park opening breakfast at Hollywood and Vine and were able to sign up before the park opened (before breakfast at 8am). I've read that recently, they even let people wanting to sign up into the park early. You go to the sign up area (next to Indiana Jones, and pick a time for later in the day. The day we did it, the spots were all taken by 9:30am.
Cool, thanks! How does sign up work? I'd be interested in tips for both parks, because we're going to WDW in March and possibly DLR in August.

Well at Disneyland they have sign ups for all the shows at the innovations hall. Your kids have to be present because they ask them a few simple questions name age can you follow directions do you know your left side right side. We went like an hour after park opening last time and we missed it by 2 kids I was so bummed so we were on the alternative list basically I could show up 15 mins before every show if someone disnt show up. But they wear robes and all get to battle Darth Vadar or the other guy for 30 secs. We're going to try again next month.

Start to finish, Jedi Training takes around 30 minutes. They ask you to be in the meetup spot early, and then there's the time it takes for the actual show.
When we went in February, they opened the turnstiles early. We were able to sign up and still make it over for rope drop at opening time.
Kylo Ren has replaced Darth Vader, but your kiddo may or may not get to battle with him. There's a Rebels character as well.

Its awesome!!
They doubled the number of kids so it doesn't fill up like instantly, but still fills up within an hour or so of park opening. And I know they've been starting sign ups sometimes as early as 8am.
My just turned 4 year old did it and loved it. She got to carry the sign when they walked over because she was the shortest kid. She was really excited about that.

I think DL is changing theirs and the minimum age is increasing to I think 7.
WDW's is still 4-12.
Make sure your child is comfortable both answering the questions the castmember will ask them initially when you sign them up and to go off with the group without you.
