I think I just need to talk this out until I am able to see my Dr. for my appt tomorrow.
With DD1, I had prodromal labor for 6 weeks leading up to her birth, which was an induction at 41+1. DD2 is breech, and I have a c section scheduled for next tuesday(!!!).
This past week Ive been having extended periods of regular contractions, usually 1 minute long, from 4-6 minutes apart lasting a few hours. Only twice have they been painful (including last night). They felt like menstrual cramps but I also had pressure in my rear and sharp pain in my hips with some back pain too. If DD2 wasn't breech I wouldn't do anything about it and just let them fizzle out, which they eventually did, or wait until they get stronger.
I'm just terrified that one of these instances will turn into the real deal and I'll show up pushing and it'll be a dangerous situation.
So, I guess my question is should I just call/go in next time one of these episodes occurs? Would they do a c section to be better safe than sorry or do they want me progressing first? All of these are questions for my dr I know but I don't see her until tomorrow afternoon and I'm anxious about it happening tonight again.
I would call and see how your doctor wants to handle. I know I would personally feel better if I were checked to make sure things weren't progressing. Not that it's awful if they are, but I would want my ob looped in.
Well, I would also be concerned that you'll progress with contractions like that and show up ready to deliver. Whether or not a breech delivery is a dangerous situation depends on you, the baby, and the doctor delivering. But if a C-section is your plan, I would go to the hospital if contractions get that serious again.
I had this issue with DS2. It was really nerve wracking and I was told to stick close to the hospital at all times but I was fortunate to live and work within a few minutes of my hospital.

Right, I haven't really discussed the possibility of a vaginal breech birth with my dr so I shouldn't say it is a dangerous situation but I would prefer not to attempt it.
Another issue is that all of our family is 4-5 hrs away and they will be staying with DD1 while we are in the hospital. I have local friends who can stay with her while family drives in but now I'm wondering if I should just have them come now to be safe.

When this happened to me DD flipped head down. I would check in with the Doc and see if they'll access position again so you don't end up like me going in for a C/S and finding out baby is head down.
If you are 39w (or late 38) I would just ask if they could push me up. Because that sounds miserable.
I'm 38+1. My c section is scheduled for 39 weeks exactly and I don't think they'd push it up unless absolutely necessary.
With DD1 I went into the hospital a few times thinking 'this is it' and they monitored me and were like yep you're in labor alright but I just never progressed. So I wonder if they saw the same thing on the monitors now they'd just prep me and do the surgery. I really didn't want to go before this weekend, I have things to do!! Haha.

Nothing wrong with not attempting it if you aren't comfortable with it. I didn't know my second was breech when labor started, but the whole delivery from first contraction was only 5 hours, so I'd hesitate to not get checked out with contractions that meet the 5/1/1 criteria for heading to the hospital for a normal labor.
I had prodromal labor for 10 days before my scheduled c section (it stopped 6 days before it). I went from 0 to 5 cm during that time but they never considered doing the c section early (mine was scheduled for 39w).

This is what I want to hear. I have a call in to the nurses so I will see what they say, but it does seem to be very similar to my last pregnancy and nothing happened in those 6 weeks to progress things. I'll just have her check me tomorrow I guess and see what she says.

DD was breech, I was in very early labor when I went into the hospital. I was bleeding and the doctor did an ultrasound to find the cause of the bleeding and saw that she flipped at some point after 36 weeks. I was 38 weeks + 2.
The doctor monitered me for about two hours, tried an unsucessful external version, and then had an immediate c-section. I was still only dilated to 2cm at the point. Labor was progressing though, but who knows if it would have stopped.
What I'm trying to say is, its better safe than sorry, go visit your doctor.
