For our next trip we plan to stay at AoA. How complicated will it be to get to AKL? Would we need to take a bus to AK, get off and then get on a different bus to AKL?
Trying to figure out if there is a resort dinner we could do without too much hassle.

Yes, that is what you'd have to do or take a cab/uber. I think those are all close enough that it wouldn't be too bad, though.

We had dinner at Sanaa and it was really good. DS liked looking at the animals and the theming was cool to him too. Plus that kid loves naan, so he was pretty happy.

Hop on your resort bus to the closest theme park (Studios will be the closest for AoA) and then switch to the AKL bus there. Allow for an hour to get between resorts so that you have some leeway in case you miss a bus and have to wait for the next one.
Boma will allow you to sample more items since it is a buffet. It can be very noisy and busy so if you want a quieter dining experience you might want to opt for Sanaa or Jiko.
I don't think you can go wrong with either; we've only done breakfast at boma but would definitely eat dinner there. We love Indian, so we enjoye Sanaa. Jiko is good, too.

Dinner at Boma was good for DH and I...we tried a lot of new and different foods that we normally wouldn't eat. However, my girls didn't really like it, despite it being a buffet. The food was just too different for them.
DH and I didn't like Boma at all. Jiko however was very good. Sanaa is on our list to try one trip.
I think taking a taxi or uber is the easiest way to get from resort to resort but not with young kids. Uber family might be an option since they would have carseats.
Sanaa and Boma are two of our favorite restaurants. We've taking the kids to both, and they liked both of them. They liked the buffet/dessert bar aspect of Boma, but I think they actually had more fun at Sanaa. If you go, make sure it's light out so that the kids can see the animals well. My boys LOVED the birds that come up to the windows to look at themselves. They spent our whole meal trying to interact with the birds.
My kids aren't super adventurous eaters, but they enjoyed the Sanaa bread service. They also eat rice like it's their job, so they were okay with any dish that included rice
Disney Springs could also be an option. Not sure we gain much by trying to get to a monorail resort. That seems like it would have the problem of needing to transfer at some point. Plus that seems like the furthest option from AoA.
My thought behind a monorail resort was the fact that the transfer at MK will be relatively quick as opposed to waiting for another bus. Heck, you can walk to the Contemporary from MK.
I have not been to either Sanaa or Boma. Those are the two I am debating between. Anyone have a preference?
I know @savestheday raves about sanaa. Boma might be better with kids though since it's a buffet?
Saana is epic. So SO SO yummy. They have pizza for kids but it is on a Naan crust. DS wouldn't eat it and the manager came out and talked him into eating it. Then they became besties and bonded over their peanut allergies and she brought him a free scoop of ice cream. I left a comment card about how awesome she was at the desk and DS drew her a picture.
Boma is also good but I think it's harder with kids because you have to keep getting up to get food. BUT THE SOUP OMG I COULD DIE HAPPY EATING JUST THEIR SOUPS FOREVER.
We are staying at AoA too and I have thought about this. It seems like a pain and I'm pretty sure DH and my kids would complain. My kids still need carseats too so Uber/cab is out. I'm pretty sure we will do all our table service meals in the parks this trip. Then the quick service restaurant at AoA is supposed to be good.

The Mears app has an option for selecting a cab with car seats on the app.

I am still undecided if it is worth it. There is good chance DD would be just as happy with more pool time and just eating at AoA. However I want to try the AKL restaurants and this seems like a potential good chance to do so.
I haven't been to Saana, but I loved Boma. I actually went by myself and DH and DD just ate at the Mara. DH is a picky eater and wouldn't have appreciated the food at Boma, so it wasn't worth the expense. We were staying at Coronado Springs so we took a bus to AK and then transferred to an AKL bus. Coming home took a little longer b/c AK was closed by then so went from AKL to DHS and then from DHS back to our hotel.
