.5 - 4oz. Totally depended upon the food, her mood, and the position of the sun at that exact moment. Don't stress it, they're still getting most of their nutrition from breastmilk/formula.
My son still nurses the same amount, so that is still his primary nutrition. He easily eats 4 ounces twice a day. I didn't know what was normal. I had read 6-8.

This. She's 9 months now, but at 6 months, she might eat half of a stage 1 serving, or she might eat the whole thing, and sometimes she pretty much refused to take a bite. We try solids 3 times a day.
Ds1-- anything and everything he can get his hands on. 8 to 12 ounces a day and he dropped down to one bottle at daycare but hated bottles anyway so that was to be expected. The bottle was a lot larger than before.
For dinner she has 1-2 tablespoons of barley/brown rice, 1-2 tablespoons of an orange/yellow veg and 1-2 tablespoons of a green veg and some fruit if she's still hungry.
I feel like this is a lot but she loves food and pedi says it's fine. She stops eating when she's full (she'll turn her head or block her face with her hands instead of leaning in for more).

Thanks for asking this-it's reassuring. My DD is almost 7 months and we've been trying solids for 4 weeks. It wasn't until this weekend that she actually ate a meaningful amount for us. She's been doing better at daycare-but mornings/evenings, she would take 2-3 bites then do everything in her power to avoid anymore.
Over the weekend, it's like she just got hungry! For four days we've done 1-2 ounces in the AM (sometimes with some oatmeal mixed in), she gets 3.5 ounces at lunch and another 2 ounces at dinner. She also really likes those mum mum crackers, so she gets 2 of those for "snack". I'm hoping this is the start of a new trend for her.

Reading these responses is also making me feel better. I've been doing things like putting 1/2 a puff in his mouth, and he even spits that out. He spits out baby crack!
This has been a different experience from my first 2. Both of them had been 100% bottle feed for a least a few months by this point (DS3 still nurses mostly), so I chalked it up to that. I suppose it could just be personality differences, too.
Puree or applesauce in the morning, about an hour after nursing. BF to nap. Puffs and puree or finger food for lunch. BF to nap. (optional BF snack before supper, depends on what time we eat) Supper is typically whatever we're eating, ie. shredded chicken last night.
BF before bed.
He also gets BM in a cup during meals, although doesn't drink a lot of it. Each serving of food is 1-2 TBS, and he stops when he's done.
DD turns 7 months this week and she just eats 2-3 oz of purees at dinner time. I'm thinking we will add in lunch soon, but with 2 older kids to feed, I'm not stressing about it yet. Bottles are easier, lol.
I have no idea, we are doing mostly BLW because she hates to be fed. She insists on feeding herself so I don't know how much she really swallows. I just give her random food on her tray and she licks most of them.
Daycare says she eats about 1 TBSP for lunch. She likes having spoon handed to her and she feeds herself.
Her diaper output has changed- so it's obvious she's digesting some stuff.
We just started 4 days ago... So, 1/2 oz - 1 oz, 1x per day for now. They both seem to get it and like the concept of food, so I think that will start to increase pretty quickly.

DS is a chunker and loves food. We started at 6 months by giving him a chance to have puree at lunch and dinner, but he would finish an entire container of Stage 1 puree at both. (Unless it was something he disliked, like peas, which make him gag.) By 7 months we moved him up to Stage 2 containers and he would still finish and entire one at each meal, and we also started feeding him more puree at breakfast, where again he finished.
He also tends to wave his arms around frantically and make excited noises if he sees one of us eating because he wants some (even though he can't chew or anything -- he just is like, FOOD! ME!!)
Haha after reading these responses I am now positive he is eating a ton! The doctor told me to feed him until he was full, which is really obvious, so I will keep doing it.
The first time he ever tried solids he ate 3 ounces. The other day for dinner he had 4 ounces (I freeze his food in mini muffin trays and they are 1oz each) of puree, a 1/4 avocado, and was still wanting more.
I have no idea how to eyeball ounces, so I'm sticking with @sessalee's response above. At 6 months, some days DS would eat what seemed like a lot and some days he wasn't as interested.

I am in trouble when he is a teenager.
lol - don't worry, you still have the picky middle years in between. Think of all the money you'll save when he'll only eat plain noodles or chicken nuggets...
I usually warmed up 1-2 cubes per baby (I made all my food). We started baby food at 6 mos and they took awhile to really get interested. Sometimes they took 1 bite, sometimes they ate it all. We only did dinner time until they started to really enjoy it. Then we added lunch.
My DD is 6 months and we just started solids this week. We're just doing one "meal" (dinner) for this week. She ate about 2 tablespoons worth. She seems into it so I'm going to up it to two meals of solids next week.
