What is the Christmas party like? We went to the Halloween party about 5 years ago and it was fine but I didn't think it was worth the money. We have annual passes now so I'm not sure I want to spend more on tickets unless it is super amazing.

Halloween is better hands down. So if you didn't like the Halloween one I wouldn't bother with Christmas unless you are someone who is obsessed with Christmas. It's basically the same thing just Christmas themed with hot chocolate/cookies instead of candy.

We haven't done the Halloween party, so I can't compare. We did the Christmas party this past December. We really enjoyed it and loved being able to ride a bunch of rides with hardly any waits. The only special character meets we did were 7 Dwarves and Santa Goofy, but that was fine for us.
DH is totally into Halloween and would like to try the Halloween party one year.
The Christmas party also has snow on Main Street and a special Christmas parade. And Jack Skellington is out in his Sandy Claws costume but the wait is INSANE (all the fab five are in their holiday attire as well). Definitely not bags-of-candy cool like Halloween, but I've been twice and enjoyed it. Up until this January when we lucked into a same-day Fast Pass, I had only ever ridden the Mine Train at night during one of these parties.
Also, I'm expecting runDisney people to be peeved that there's not a Christmas party during the Wine & Dine race weekend like there has been in the past – the first one isn't until the Monday after the race.

We have season passes and someone gave us free tickets to the Halloween party as we were leaving, so that was the only reason we went. I've looked into the Christmas one but it really doesn't seem worth it for us to pay extra. I feel the same way about the Halloween one. I feel it is paying $70(or whatever it is) to get candy/cookies and smaller lines but with passes we normally go when it is not so crowded, so for us it isn't worth the extra money.

If you like characters, parades and fireworks the parties are great. Those are the three things we go to Disney for according to my kids. We always rotate our priorities since the lines can get long Rapunzel/Flynn, Jack Skellington, 7 Dwarfs, etc.

Because Halloween is Monday. It's a lot of work to change over the whole park. I wasn't even expecting a party on the 7th. I think that's Disney trying to get as close as they can to that weekend.

Super crowded and not very fun IMO. We went in 2014 and only did one ride and one meet and greet in two hours. After that we gave up and left. It was a horrible waste of money for us.
We go to MK on party days in the morning and get so much done. To see it so crowded and to pay for that experience was awful. Never again

Thanks for sharing this! We are going from the 11-19th and the party is on 5 of our 7 days in the parks. I have small kids and while my Mom loves the Christmas stuff, I imagine spending even more money to stay for the party isn't going to be worth it. Great tip on going to Magic Kingdom the morning of Christmas party days, though....so glad i sucked it up and bought the Park Hoppers!

Park hoppers are so worth it IMO! Last year we went Dec 6-11. On that Tuesday we got to MK at 9:15. We did Dumbo four times in a row without getting off, Barnstormer twice in a row, Teacups three times in a row without getting off, and Buzz Light year four times in a row. All of this was in an hour. Most people don't get park hoppers so they avoid MK on party days.

I am kind of obsessed with Christmas, but it will be DD, DH and I and I really don't have a desire to ride alone so we will just be doing her stuff anyways. I think we may pass until she gets a bit older. Plus we are going to start TTC soon and that might limit me as well. Thanks for the advice!
I'm waiting until they release the FD dates, but we may do early October for our vacation and hit up the Halloween party. I know it's "not so scary" but is it toddler-appropriate or will they be scared? M loves trick or treating and Halloween, FWIW.

Totally toddler appropriate!
Yessssss. Hopefully I can score free dining. It looks like flights are pretty reasonable, or we could drive 24 hours one way (LOLOLOLOL shoot me now) and save $1000.
My husband refused to dress up when we went, not even a tshirt!
And soooooo many people commented on his lack of getting into it.
Oh man, haha! H was a good sport and got into the Christmas party attire with me. He picked out a pretty awesome "OMG Santa!" Elf/Will Farrell shirt to wear and hammed it up.

Now, what is a good family of four costume?
We are flying into Tampa next time. Flights were much cheaper and we always rent a car anyways. It's not a long drive to me but I had a long commute for years. About 1.5 hours.
