I have a pair similar to that from many years ago. The soles are different and mine are a mustard color. I adore them. (I actually have to bring them over to the cobbler soon because they are due for a new sole.) The leather is buttery soft and they are like wearing slippers.
You should definitely try them on. Some Frye's run about a half size small and some don't. I am not one consistent size in my Frye's. Because the boots are essentially handmade, the sizes can differ a bit here and there. Keep in mind, though, they this is soft leather so they will stretch a bit.

ya..it looks like the wide calf is online only, so I may have to pick a size and order it and try it.

315 pretty much described my experience as well. I have them in blue with the newer sole and love them. The shaft on these is not as stiff of a leather as Frye usually uses since they are made to be a slouch boot. There is a short version that you may be able to find in store to see what sizing would be like for your foot. I love mine and get a lot of compliments.
