We are going to Disneyland Dec 2-5 2016. Have you guys found it to be cheaper to book a package deal or to just purchase everything separately? I'm in the very beginning stages of planning! Thanks in advance for any tips!

There are plenty of decent hotels within walking distance of the park gates. So if by package you mean hotel plus park tickets you can definitely save money staying offsite.
