I am feeling bad about having to leave Mr. Jiggles this morning. He's been gagging lately, and yesterday I found some bile throw-up. He didn't eat breakfast yesterday, but did eat dinner and breakfast today, so maybe he just had a little upset tums. But he didn't poop this AM, which is pretty out of the ordinary, he is very regular. I had to leave for work though, so I couldn't wait any longer. I'm sure he will be fine, I left the patio door open so he could potty outside if needed, but I don't know if he will know to do that since it isn't normal for him. LOL. I am just weirdly anxious about this, probably for no reason.
In non-Jiggles randoms, I feel like I need to stop playing the stupid Kardashian phone game because I was in the game in my dreams last night. WTF.
I had a big deadline on Monday and now I'm feeling burnt out. I should start working on another project but I'm taking a bit of a breather instead. Yesterday we found out that one of our fellow grad students committed suicide on Sunday. It's shaken everyone up. Academia can be brutal on your mental health. Ugh.

My cat was also off this morning. He heaved like he was going to throw up, but didn't actually throw up. I was worried, but then he ran around like he was being chased and stopped to roll around in a beam of sunlight, so I don't know if what happened is a one-time thing or what. I'll keep an eye on it.
My allergies are absolutely awful. I *have* to go to the store after work to buy a bridal shower gift, but it will take every ounce of energy I have to accomplish this feat because all I want to do is sleep.

My cat has been "attacking" me in my sleep. I've been falling asleep on the couch and she will suddenly jump on me. I'm sure she's not really attacking me, but being suddenly woken up sure makes it seem that way!
I'm doing better with the food today. I need to work out a better breakfast though because my stomach was growling about an hour after eating. I had the white part of 2 hard boiled eggs, blueberries, and steamed spinach. Is all the protein in the yolk? I won't eat the hard boiled yolk, but I will if I scramble them. Maybe I'll try that tomorrow and see if that helps.
Oh, and I do not seem to be a fan of the protein shakes, but I've been forcing myself to drink as much as I can. I use the chocolate shakes and I've added banana/strawberries/almond milk/coconut water (a variety of those) and I just can't get myself to like it. Does anyone have any good chocolate protein shake recipes? I'm about ready to add some Cadbury mini eggs in just to make me drink the whole thing.

I'm pretty sure yes. But I could be wrong. That seems like a teeeeeeeny breakfast, yo. And my body doesn't seem to recognize shakes as food. I can have the proteiniest protein shake ever and my body's like, "Mmm....nope, still hungry!" So I would only have a small shake after lifting weights and then a small dinner after that.

That's what I was thinking. Scrambled eggs it is then! I even bought organic eggs, this program is all about organic.
I know, it is a small meal. But this program has us eating or having a protein shake every 2 1/2 hours (6 meals/day). I'm modifying it a bit since I do not plan on drastically changing my eating habits. I figure if I cut out ALL carbs/dairy/red meat for 14 days, sure I'll lose more weight than if I didn't; but then come day 15, I'll be eating ALL the bread and then gain it all right back again!
I've been successful in the past just by eating in moderation as well as working out and running on a regular basis. I fell off that wagon when I went through my divorce and have been having a hard time getting back on. But once I do, I know I can be successful again.

Ah ok, cool. I fail so hard at the diet half of diet & exercise. I do well some times (like last night I had scrambled eggs and sauteed sweet potatoes for dinner and I had baked chicken on a salad for lunch today) but when I don't I do REALLY bad. Like eating cookies every night or snacking on candy all day It's like, having healthy stuff is good, but then I just add the bad stuff TO the healthy stuff instead of replacing. Fucking sugar addiction.

sweetchix, you need to eat more for breakfast and you'll get way more protein by eating the yolks. I tend to like the mantra "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper." Eat a nice, big healthy breakfast. When I do, I find I'm not staring at the clock dreaming of lunch. It seems to even me out to eat better all day long.

I hear ya! I don't know why I thought starting the day after Easter was a good idea. I have an entire basket of chocolatey goodness with my name on it!

I'm thinking maybe eating scrambled eggs will be better. The meal plans calls for: 1 protein (2 whole eggs would be perfect), 1 cup of vegetable, and 1 fruit (a cup of something or a small apple/banana). If I eat that at 8, for example, my next meal should be at 10:30, and so on. It spells out how much of each food group to have and then, of we're still hungry, to eat more fruit.
Last night during the workout class, I was talking to a woman who was in her second 6 week challenge (lose 20 lbs in 6 weeks) and I commented on how hard the food part is, especially with having leftovers from Easter. I asked what she ate that day and she said "just fruit". Yeah, this program is not for me. I won't be continuing on after the 2 weeks. But I'm hoping the workouts will kick my ass into gear.
sweetchix, My favorite protein shake is 1 scoop chocolate, 1 scoop vanilla (though 2 scoops chocolate is ok), 1/2 c frozen blueberries, 1 c-ish almond milk, 1 spoonful almond butter.
I think type of powder is important too as flavors and consistency vary.
And I'm pretty sure eggs are white=protein, yolks=fat...but the fat will keep you fuller, longer. I could also be pulling this out of my ass though. lol.
sweetchix the protein content for a large egg is split almost evenly between the yolk and the white about 3 grams each for a total of 6-7 grams protein per egg. By not eating the yolk you are missing out on the fat which is good fat, and a lot of the nutrients are in the yolk as well.
One of the best protein powders I have ever found is Isopure creamy vanilla. It has the best flavor/consistency and zero carbs. If I want carbs I add fruit or oatmeal to it, if I want a chocolate flavor I add cocoa powder. I am not a huge fan of protein shakes by themselves, so I mix 2 scoops of protein powder into cold brewed coffee with some heavy cream and shake it up. The vanilla in the protein powder is almost like flavored creamer. I get my caffeine I need in the morning while getting protein and fat which keeps me full for about 3 hours.
