I tried the camelback once, because my husband has one. I thought it was too heavy. If I was doing an ultramarathon I'd probably try again, but I don't see the benefit for me, personally, right now.
My husband runs with one on his longer runs (9+ miles or so). He trains with it, but does not run with it when he races. We pack it with ice in the summer too, which helps a ton on really hot days.
Mostly to me it seemed really like it would be too heavy and cumbersome, however, I do love the idea of it being packed with ice in the summer...that sounds amazing!!
The idea of running with something on my back does not appeal to me in the least. Especially in the summer, when I'd want liquids more, and I'm trying to wear as little as decently possible.
