I feel like I need a vacation too, but I have to hoard my PTO for my (unpaid) maternity leave. I'm also starting to get nervous about job stability, as we had more lay-offs this past week (after a huge layoff in January). This time it wasn't my department, but it still makes me uneasy. I think I might disclose my pregnancy to HR tomorrow to get a bit of protection even though its much earlier than I'd like.
As for this weekend, DH's band has a show tomorrow night. Thankfully its at 8pm and close to home otherwise my constant need for sleep would win out. Sunday we have free passes to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, so we're going to hit that up.

You don't get a paid maternity leave?!?! Or are you hoarding for the period after the paid period? And, ugh, to having to play an HR game to get protection but I think that's a smart move.
I do not get a paid maternity leave, period. All 12 weeks unpaid. It also will encompass the time bonuses are paid out, and I wouldn't be shocked if because of that I don't get one (I'm going to inquire/get it in writing).

SHUT! UP! !!!!!!!
I seriously don't believe this! This is a company-wide policy? HOW?!?!?!?! Seriously, it's not like you work for a tiny rinky-dink firm. I seriously can't get over this.
Ugh, I want for you to get out of there so bad. Which obviously is not going to happen anytime soon now, but ugh.
And I will be livid on your behalf if they don't give you a pro-rated bonus!
I feel like I'm an abused wife and this company is my a-hole husband, because these things don't even shock me anymore (wilted)

Oh scm1011, that is terrible. Don't let being pregnant keep you from looking - I've known a few people who have been hired while pregnant. I mean, I probably wouldn't wait until you're like 36 weeks or anything to start interviewing, but definitely don't stop trying to get out. Hang in there.
I'm not sure what's up for the weekend. I have to go to a wake on Saturday morning for my coworkers daughter, which is just so terrible I can't even stand it. (She was only 27, and it was a car accident.) My mom was supposed to come on Saturday afternoon to visit, but I am going to push her off til next weekend, because I just can't. I'll probably try to do something with Ben on Sunday to give my husband a break, but no real plans otherwise.
LOL RockNVoll , I always know you can notice such things. I didn't get color this time, but I felt the ravatar hair color was a tad too light. I was trying for side swept bangs but they made me crazy. So I went with blunt cut on the bangs, and she made them a bit too short for my taste. Now it's been almost a week and they're looking more normal. If I posted a picture you'd wonder about my self-image
scm1011 , I agree you should try and interview now and see what happens. Your company sounds horrific.
I hope to have lots of pictures from this weekend. DH booked a hotel across the street from my company, so I may pop in when we arrive. My boss wants to see S--we haven't visited since she was 2. DH is going to an event on Saturday, and we're tagging along at least for a while. This means medieval garb for the whole family. S is old enough to fight if she wants, so she's very curious to check it out and see if it's something she wants to do with her Daddy. There's a pool at our hotel, so worst case scenario we come back and I let my water baby go to town. Sunday we are meeting up with her birth family, which is always a blast. We found a nearby kids museum that looks really cool, so that should be good for a few hours of fun. I also took Monday off, but if we get home in time I might just work that day and save the PTO for another time.
No big vacations on the horizon. I want to take S to see my parents this summer while he's away for 10 days, but the airfares are ridiculous. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to just bite the bullet and charge it on my CC. I've been really good at paying it down lately. The MMM board is organizing a GTG in July, and so far my schedule is open. Both of these trips mean I'll miss my HS reunion, but i'm not exactly shedding tears over missing that, in July, in the middle of the Mojave Desert.

Hugs scm1011 about your job. I'm in the same boat, zero paid maternity leave. That sucks even more about the bonus issue, I hope you get it straightened out with HR.
drloretta that sounds like an awesome weekend planned!
My weekend is super busy. We need to finish unpacking tonight and tomorrow. I have a 5k on Saturday morning and a half marathon on Sunday morning. Saturday afternoon DH's grandparents' are stopping in as well on their way back to the Boston area from their summer in sunny Mississippi.
