I have to give a shout out to George Washington basketball for winning the NIT last night! With the talent on that team we went into the season with definite expectations for the NCAA tournament but a championship of any kind is still a championship so we'll take it! It was a fun season. We're not renewing our season tickets next year so it's nice to have this season be a good one.
As a Mets fan, there are very high expectations for this season! We have the best starting pitching in baseball - if they stay healthy, we should be really good. I am so excited for the season to start.
The Mets play here 3 times during the year, we're definitely going to go in May and possibly in July & Sept. We're planning to go to Baltimore May 1 because the White Sox (DH's team) are playing. And when we go to Chicago next month we're going to drive and we're trying to plan out a stop on the way in and a stop on the way home - probably Detroit on the way home since they are also playing the White Sox.
DH is a Cubs fan, and they are playing the Marlins the weekend after Father's Day, so I just bought club level food/drink inclusive tix to give him on FD. I'm pretty excited about it and I can't tell him!!
Otherwise I'm more of a football girl. DS is turning 1 this month (!) and we are having a "1st down" party for him.
I'm a Syracuse fan living in NC, so this week has been kind of fun with the trash talk. My baseball team is the Phillies. They were terrible last year, and I expect them to be pretty terrible again this year. We enjoy going to the Durham Bulls once or twice a year.
BASEBALL! I'm super excited this year because our Amazon Fire has a Fox Sports app so I can actually watch games! Summer just isn't summer without the Twins on! I'm hoping to take E to his first game sometime this year. I'm sure they will do what they always do.. start out well, suck for a while, then start to come back too late. It's a MN team tradition to let their loyal fans down every year
Also more interested in hockey than basketball, lol. For pro, the Wild have been doing well lately but I haven't been following as much as I'd like to. For college, my team lost in the first round of the Frozen Four. That was like a kick in the gut after such an amazing season! I stopped paying attention so I don't even know who all moved on, haha. Oh well.
Can we talk about the women's college March Madness? Because Oregon State is in the Final Four and I feel awful that no one seems to care because it's not men's basketball.
@estrellita I'm dying to take B to an MLB game but there's no way she'd sit still for even one inning! I might try a minor league game just to see how she does before I buy expensive Yankee tickets.
The Yankees just aren't the same now that Derek Jeter is gone. I will still watch, but my interest has definitely waned in his absence. I will still wholeheartedly hope for their success this season though, because their success has a big impact on my husband's overall mood ?

If it helps, I don't care about any basketball our women's professional team is the only one to win a championship in like the last 25 years and while it did get attention, it didn't get half as much attention as if a men's team had won. I mean, I can't say much because I don't pay attention, but still!

I feel that UConn's dominance has made women's basketball really boring
In general you don't see the kind of upsets you do with the men's tournament because the amount of talent doesn't go as deep.
The only thing I know about UConn is that every year during the Final Four they hijack the hashtag we use for our hockey team. I didn't notice it at all this year though.
