We are going to one at the beginning of May. I was planning Seaworld because I have been and liked it but I wonder if Legoland will be more fun for my dd. She will be just turned 3. Any suggestions or recs for either? I have only done Seaworld without kids.

I think Lego Land is great for ages 3-8. Most of the rides are geared towards little kids. We took my son there just before he turned 4, and he was able to do almost everything.
Since we're talking about San Diego area - we'll be there in November after 5 days in Disneyland. I was planning on skipping Sea World and Legoland. We're definitely doing the zoo - should we do a second day at the safari park? I know it's further north...hit it up on the way from Anaheim to San Diego?
Things I'd been thinking about doing besides the zoo & balboa - Cornado Island, Cabrillo Nat'l Monument, Birch Aquarium.
Legoland is really great for that age, especially if it's warm enough for the waterpark and water rides.
I probably wouldn't do the safari park and zoo in the same trip, but they are both great. The zoo is huge and a lot of walking/hills but exhibits are close to each other and there is tons to see. The safari park is more spread out but they have a tram that goes around one of the largest exhibits and it's more like seeing the animals in their natural habitat. Is do Coronado island for a day, because it's so relaxing compared to the other touristy things, and birch aquarium.

The Wild Animal Park (locals call it the WAP and tourists call it by the horrid safari name) is not on the way from Anaheim to San Diego. It is about 25 miles east of the 5; you can do it on the way down but it will add mileage to your trip. I live right by the WAP and it is just over 80 miles away from Disneyland. November is a good time to go since the weather tends to be cooler. The WAP and the SD Zoo have different animals so its always a good idea to do both if you want to see all of the critters. Wear comfy shoes to both parks; the WAP is spread out and involves lots of walking and the Zoo is built into a series of canyons so there are a few hills.
There are some nice tide pools at Cabrillo NM; they are at the bottom of the hill and you can drive down there. The parking lot can fill up on busy days so getting there early is a good idea.

Thank you! I will be sure to only refer to it as WAP!
I just don't know how much time I want to devote to animals. Still have plenty of time to decide.
