Hahahahahahaha! Want the truth? 4 is worse, then they turn 5 and give you the hope that they are normal, and not actually demon spawn, then 6 hits and they lose their damn minds again.
No, three was by far the worst. Four was much easier, it was just a lot of whining and angsty "YOU DON'T KNOW MY LYFE!!!" bullshit.
I made a thread about it a few years ago and I was soooo happy to realize my 4y.o wasn't the only teenager. Still.....wayyyy easier than 3, 3 was hellllll. The hardest age so far.
Overall 4 has been better than 3. We went through a couple month rough patch during 4 where I thought it rivaled 3, but luckily it didn't last. I fully believe the theory of disequilibrium, where the half years are actually the worst, so I think all ages have their good and bad times.
I do feel like after 3, every year is better and better. Damn, 7 is a fucking BREEZE after 2,3,4. It's nice that it's getting better and better so look forward to that! We have such fun and deep conversations now. I'm loving these years.
I think now someone with a teenager is going to crush my dreams!

This has been my experience too!
My oldest turns 8 this month, and he is awesome. Definitely increasingly more fun with every year once we survived 3.
My youngest is 4 and while she's still a handful it's soooo much better than 3.
3 was/is awful. 4 was better, I guess? It was like, the drama was more dramatic, but less frequent? The ranting and tantruming was more deliberate and hurtful ("you're the worst mommy ever" or "well I guess nobody loves me then so I'll just go away!"/stomp off to bedroom and continue to stomp all over the floor and slam the door). But it's not as often as the ridiculous irrational 3-year-old tantrums. I don't know. I have a 5-year-old and a 3.5-year-old, so I just bury my face in wine nightly.
4 was pretty bad but as we move closer to 5 it's getting better. Like he's still an asshole but he's so clever about it that I'm actually amused by it a lot of the time.
4 was soooo much better for us than 3. Three was fucking terrible. So so bad. 4 has been (mostly) good. We have moments of course, but not weeks of asshole-ish-ness like we did at age 3.
It's less the age but more that the 5 & 7 year old conspire together to drive me insane. When it's just one of them then it's so peaceful in my house. So, I'm always suggesting H takes one with him while running errands. lol
