I would love more space but I can't imagine what I would do with THAT much space.
My old boss lives in a house like this. It's not quite as updated (built in the 90s with 90s decor) but it's just her, her husband, and their granddaughter that they are raising. It blew my mind when they bought the place.
My first thought was how much it would suck to clean those floors. But I'm willing to bet that the people seriously considering that house are not going to be cleaning the floor themselves. The kitchen is beautiful!
Meanwhile, I'm over here that it is only $489k. I really need to move.
I can't imagine the COL where you are!! Blows my mind to think of it. Previous boss that bought a house like that paid ~500k I believe.
My cousin's that live behind me have a huge house (much bigger than anything else in this neighborhood) 5 bed, 3.5 bath, 5000sq ft, inground pool and hot tub, shop out back, etc for just over 400k. I'm telling ya, worth the COL around here!

bk1 The housing market here makes me sick to my stomach, it is so absurd. I really like living here but that is the main reason this is not a forever (or even long term) location for us because I know we'll never be able to afford the type of house I want (and I don't want anything extravagant).
I look back at what we paid for our 3BR/2BA house in Texas and I can't believe how cheap it was.
HoneySpider By you that property would be several million dollars, and you could maybe get an older townhouse for that price. Amazing what a difference COL makes.

It really does. I like to look at the listings in our little local newspaper until every single listing for a SFH is over $1 million. Then it's just annoying.
There's a nice, traditional brick house that went up for sale last week in our neighborhood. Listing said, "One owner, never before on the market!" Yeah...built in 1951 and all of the interior trim (baseboards, chair rail, crown moulding, mantle, front door) is avocado green.
There's another house that went on the market, but went pending the first day. I'm annoyed because they never posted any listing photos. How am I supposed to snoop through all of the houses in the neighborhood??
Oh man, I really love that house! My dream house would be just like that, especially the library. Except I can't possibly imagine ever needing that much space. Too much cleaning!
