Today was not off to a good start. I locked myself out of the house (on a cold and snowy morning).
I have a habit of locking the doorknob before shutting the door, and then locking the deadbolt with the key. Well, this morning my hands were full, and I had to rearrange my pocket (where my keys were) and didn't realize I didn't put my keys back in. So I locked the doorknob, pulled it closed, and just like that thought "Oh shit!". I checked my other pockets and the bag I was holding. I even checked the shoes I brought to change into at work. I called my mom and SD hoping he could drive out but he was already up in bed (he works 7pm - 7am). She said she'd go ask him though and we hung up. I called work and told them I'd probably be late and that maybe somebody there could come get me if SD wasn't coming out right away (I live less than 10 minutes away), but that I'd call back after I heard back from him. After I hung up with work, XH pulls up. He had just dropped DDs off at school and was swinging by to drop off a bag of clothes. I told him what happened and he asked if I needed a ride. I wasn't sure what SD was doing so I called them again and my mom said he'd swing by work and drop their key off as long as I can get a ride in. So, XH ended up driving me in to work. What a coincidence that he happened to stop over at that time, lol. I now have the spare key and a coworker will take me home at lunch so I can get my keys and my car.
I think I'll give a spare key to my neighbor. I thought about one of those "hide a key" things, but I don't have a private yard and I'm at the dead end part of a street full of businesses and there is a homeless guy who walks through a lot so I don't want to risk leaving a key out in the very limited spaces I have. Fortunately this only happened one other time, so it's not a frequent thing, but still.
I've done that as well...and I learned how scarily easy it was to get into my apartment with a credit card. I am ultra-vigilant with the deadbolt when I am home now.
I'm at work today...normally I have Mondays off, but this week I swapped it so I would have Thursday off to go to the opening day of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I hope it isn't too much of a madhouse (although, I imagine it will be a lot of hardcore fans, so it could be fun). I know that there is a group of people already planning on camping out the night before. I won't be doing that, lol.
My outfit today is awful. It was ok, but then I thought I would be too cold, so I threw on a big, cozy cardigan and it looks terrible, but I am warm! And there is no one worth impressing at work.
I was in a wedding this weekend and my body feels like I have been hit by a truck. Up all night Friday, up all night Saturday, dancing, picking up heavy boxes, drinking too much, all added together and I am feeling my age. My body for sure is not 22 anymore.
Well. I broke up with my BF of 7ish months this morning. I feel mislead about something from when we first met (2 weeks in) and it's not able to be compromised (it's a yes/no issue). I finally directly asked for clarification due to comments made over the last several months. Whomp whomp.
I also was called into a coworker's boss's office (the c/w's boss and I are equals) and essentially the coworker said something I did last week was against company policy. It's not at all and is actually beneficial to company. And her boss clarified this to her after I glared at him until he corrected his employee. He's super passive with his employees and avoids conflicts at all costs. The coworker is very new to our company and very, very new to management in general.
I leave for Reno in two days. So random, but I'm so excited. My dad gets lots of free rooms so I'm going with him and my step mom. He booked us an all day spa day (like 5 treatments! yes please!) and has promised to spoil me with shopping and yummy food. I've had a really rough start to the year and I'm very excited about this break. The new guy is coming over to make me dinner tonight. I'm excited to see him.
@lemonlover sorry to hear about the bf and the annoying coworker. jigsy so excited for you, please report back how amazing it is!
Bf and I ended up getting last minute tickets to wrestlemania last night. Neither of us have watched wrestling since we were kids, but so many of the same wrestlers from then are still around so it was lots of fun. We didn't really even know the other one used to watch it until we got to talking about it. Had a blast and felt very nostalgic. I didn't get to sleep until 2am and got up at 7 though, so I am tired!
I'm off today...had the home inspection on the house I'm buying. The inspector literally found nothing wrong. Not one thing. He made a suggestion about adding a heat/AC vent in part of the finished basement, but that was it! I swear this process has been too smooth and too simple. Something has to happen...there has to some kind of hiccup coming. I've bought two houses (with ExH) before and it has never gone this smoothly.
1confused1 I'm staying at the Grand Sierra. I don't really know anything about it except what I find online. Have been to that one? Any suggestions of fun things to do or place to drink (hahah)?
@pdx18 , I've only been to the GS for Hot August Nights a few years ago.
Last time I was in Reno, we stayed at the Peppermill, I had one of the best meals at Bimini Steakhouse inside the Peppermill. We went to Brew Brothers in the El Dorado for live music (where we proceeded to hang out with the band and the night ended with my first one night stand ).
If you like baseball, the Reno Aces games are supposed to be a lot of fun.

I've had 2 successful dates with a new guy and he is coming to my house this week and we are going to watch Straight Outta Compton and I'm making dinner. I'm not sure what to make. I want to make sure that it is something that I make really well, so I'm torn between spaghetti and stuffed green peppers.

I think spaghetti is always a hit and I've known more people who don't really like stuffed peppers as much. Why don't you give him the choice? Then you can be confident he'd like it!
