I love the fall but despise football season, for 2 reasons:
1. I find it boring as hell. I've tried to like it. I tried especially hard when I was at a big football university, but can't get into it and find it mind numbingly boring. I wish I could get into it as there will be a million facebook posts and office talks about it.
2. It means my husband is gone all.the.time. He is a sports writer and covers college football. He goes to practices in addition to games, so he works evenings and weekends now through the new year. I basically feel like a single mom this time of year. Then, when he is at home, he is watching football on tv - which is what he is doing now, and why I'm playing online.
I would hate football season too if it took the Husband away for months. I love-love football, but only if my teams are playing. Otherwise, I don't care too much.

I LOVE football, but I'm from the land of the Irish. Be glad he isn't covering their game this weekend or you'd be really pissed. Their season opener is in Dublin. A friend of a friend just posted a status that the Pep Rally headliners are Father Jenkins, The High Kings, Martin Short, and the Prime Minister of Ireland. I think that'd be a business trip you'd want to make with him. When they've been at home, Bruce Springsteen headlined a pep rally. I miss those. I can actually point out friends and places in Rudy.
I worked at the College Football Hall of Fame for a couple of years and met tons of players. It helped develop my love of the game. Hot, built guys and cocktail parties make any sport better. Lol! I got paid to tailgate and free game tickets as perks. Tailgating is the most important part of football and I know you enjoy the occasional adult beverage.
Plan some dates with your little man and have fun. Find some stuff to do that your DH would never want to do and take the little guy. I plan to go see Princess Di's wedding gown while DH works most of this month. Treat yourself to the bogo Butter London during the big Ulta promo and work on your mani skills. My DH gets major time off and then has about 3-4 days off for the entire month and is useless. It sucks when they aren't around.
I can't stand football either!! Hubby loves it!! All he wants to do when he isn't at work now is watch football, or play Madden. So annoying!! I did agree to go to a game this year though... only because his team is playing in Nashville and I love it there so I will torture him with a night of drinking and country music (he doesn't drink and can't stand country music!) and he can torture me with the game... gotta love compromise!
I LOVE football, but I grew up in a household where it was on every Sunday. Same with DH. Going to games is one of our favorite things to do together.
My SIL's H is our local HS varsity coach. She basically becomes a single mom from August-November because he's so busy with practices, and has games and coaches meetings every weekend.

I'm not a football fan either but I definitely get excited for the Dawgs! I went to UGA and they are the only team I will actually watch on tv. I still regret not using all my tickets freshman year because I thought football was boring.

I went to games when I was at UGA and always left after halftime. lol. That was all I could take. I even got GA/FL tickets (from my boyfriend camping out), and then sold the tickets but still went down to FL and went to the beach during the game.
Adlove - yeah, my screen name makes no sense since I don't like football. I root for the Dawgs without actually watching the games. Ha
I hated having to watch football all weekend all fall, so some friends and I started an all-ladies fantasy league. This is now our sixth year, and it is super fun. Plus, we now all love football! I probably watch more and know more about the sport than my husband at this point.
LOL, one of my close college GF's H is a sports writer as well. I know exactly what you mean. She's since picked up her own fall hobbies to make up for the time in the fall that he's totally MIA and/or obsessing over football.
I actually like college football. We have it on right now. H likes to yell at the TV even though none of the coaches can hear him. I just kind of watch for watching sake. Occasionally, I like to go to a game.
That's funny dawgs, I always thought you were a fan just bc of your name here!
Yup this.
I used to not like football - then I took the time to watch it and ask questions and actually learn the game. Now I love it! It's a great way to spend time with my H - either out tailgating or just chilling at home watching it on tv.

Ugh, I too don't like football. I do like watching it in real time (at the stadium). One of our good friends is married to someone who plays in NFL so DH and I have gotten more into it to support him (and her, who is our friend).

I LOVE college football - when my team is playing! Haha!
This! I thought you were a fan too!
I grew up in small town TX, so football is king. Varsity high school games on Friday nights, college games on tv all day Saturday, esp when the Aggies are playing, and NFL all day Sunday and of course on Monday night. That was my weekend growing up and continues to be my weekend now.

I like football way more now than I used to. H LOVES it and will watch any and every game he possibly can, so I think he just rubbed off on me. I've always watched Saints games, but was never really into college football. I cheer for LSU, but I don't really care about the game.
We're watching right now, but technically I'm online shopping and hanging around while H really watches.
I love football, it's my favorite time of the year! I like even more that DH and that's a lot!
This is true in our house also. My husband gets irritated because I watch football straight through from Thursday to Monday.
Ditto in our house too, though it sucks because I rarely get to see my team (the Bills), and DH can always catch his team's games (the Giants). I usually end up telling him how his team did, lol!
I can see why you'd be peeved, Dawgs. I like a pp's idea of making game days date days with your DS, or spending the time doing something you'd like to do that your DH doesn't like.

I actually love football, college more so than NFL but watch both. Fall's my favorite season and football plays a big part. I love making dips, chili and "game food". So really, it's just an excuse for me to stuff my face.
H grew up in Packer country, and while he's not huge into football, we will try and catch the Packers on TV here. It doesn't bother me too much since its so rare, and it can be kinda fun. His mom is actually the big football fan of the family. Her and my mom talk sports more than the boys do...its kind of hilarious.
H prefers baseball, which I think is less fun to watch than football, but I usually just suck it up cuz its something he really enjoys, and he is often "sucking it up" for me for lots of other things. Plus, I get to wear cute, sparkly shirts and stuff, lol.
I like going to college games, since it is fun to go to campus and spend time outside during the fall. I don't really like going to NFL games, and I don't watch football on tv. I like baseball a lot more than football.
I don't watch any other sport besides football. I am a Packers fan, though I wouldn't say I'm as die-hard as some people, I do love my team. DH is really into fantasy football, so he's more into the players and stats vs. picking one team as a favorite.
I guess I'm ok with going to a baseball game, but I wouldn't ever watch it on TV.

My H LOVES baseball and I find it to be completely boring. I much prefer the football watching. We went to a Braves game once and it ended up in like 12 innings...I thought I was going to loose my mind.
