It's a holiday weekend here in the States! We're going to a family picnic at the old people apartments where my grandmom lives. It's fun- there have games outside in the common area and we have a boccie ball tournament. I need to think of a salad to take- maybe 3 bean salad?
I live in the UK, and we had last Monday off as their end-of-summer bank holiday, so I have to work this monday.
The good news is that between satellite TV and internet subscription service, we can watch a lot of college football. I think H has a plan to fill just about every hour with football. I LOVE college football, so this is a good thing:-)
Oh yeah, and I'm going to make BBQ pulled pork on Sunday. Never done it before, so I'm psyched.

Yum, sounds good! Are you making it in the crockpot? I've made shredded chicken that way.
I think I'm going to try a radish, green bean and feta salad. I keep changing my mind on what to make!

I'm going to rub the pork shoulder with my mom's rub recipe, then slow-cook it on our outdoor gas grill (about 275 for a few hours) -- very loosely wrapped / tented in foil to keep all of the moisture in. Then I'll pull it. I have my mom's sauce recipe that I'll make while it's cooking. Haven't decided if I'm going to mix the sauce in, or have it "on the side."
If all goes well, then I'll make some to take to work in a few weeks. Some of the British guys I work with have been asking me to make them pulled pork. When I do that, after pulling the pork, it'll go into a crock pot WITH the sauce to keep warm, and I'll just plug it in at work.
