So on Saturday I checked out the Food and Wine Festival at DCA. We did not get a chance to try all of the kiosks so I am going up again this Sunday for round 2!
Gold Rush
Triple Cheese Mac with Smoked Chicken with Fontina, Cheddar and Gouda $6 -This was my favorite item. They need to add this as a permanent menu option at one of the restaurants. It was cold by the time we sat down to eat (not Disney's fault- we were just dawdling!) and it was still that damn good!
Apple-Bacon Whoopie Pie with Maple Cream Cheese Icing and Bacon Brittle $3.75 -Favorite dessert item that I tried. The maple cream cheese isnt overpowering and there are chunks of apple inside. The bacon brittle on top is really good.
Flower Field Lemonade $4.25 -Lavender Lemonade. Too sweet for my palate and the lavender flavor is really faint. You get a nice whiff of it and an aftertaste but there is no prominent lavender taste when you drink it.
Artichoke Chips with Spicy Aïoli $5 - I didnt try these but everyone I was with loved them
The Farm
Golden Thai Vegetable Curry with Jasmine Rice $5.75 -Standard thai curry. Smelled yummy but I opted to not try it.
Meyer Lemon Macaron with Blueberry Marmalade, Meyer Lemon Cream and Dried Blueberry Dust $3.50 -The macaron is a decent size. The Blueberry is in the center. I hate blueberries so I scooped out the offending blue goo. The macaron shell was sweet with a very light lemon flavor.
By The Bay
Coconut Tapioca layered with Fresh Mango, Lychee Boba and Mango Coulis with Green Tea Micro Sponge and Sesame Tuile $4.25 -Did not try this since I am allergic to mango but our friends practically licked the container clean.
Chilled Shrimp and Snow Crab Cocktail $7.50 -Another one that I did not try.
White Cheddar Ale and Bacon Soup served in a Boudin Sourdough Mini Boule $5.50 -Soup in an edible bowl...how can you not like this?? The bowl was a little bigger than a dinner roll and had a few bites of soup in it. There are onions and celery in the soup and the only bacon is what they sprinkle on top.
A few tips if anyone wants to go -Grab a tray from the wharf area food court. They currently do not have trays at the kiosks so if you are ordering more than 2 items you will want one to carry your food. -Get a table first and then go up individually or in groups to get food. -The AP F&W food pass is only a good deal if you stick to the seafood and beef options. It is $45 for 6 food items. -You can purchase a Disney Gift card with the F&W festival logo on a wrist strap to make paying for stuff easier. I saw lots of people using them. -There are a few gluten free items and each kiosk has a flyer that indicates what items are GF. -Go early. They are still working out kinks and apparently they ran out of some items this past Sunday.
I went Sunday and we tried almost everything they had to offer. I'm working on my blog post, but we loved everything in the L.A. Style kiosk: pork belly bao taco, the ahi, and the milk chocolate tart. That cheddar ale soup was delish, but way too small. We were also big fans of the Meyer lemon macaron and the whoopie pie. Hated the chile-cauliflower burrito and that coconut/mango crap. Blech!
That AP pass is a total ripoff unless you're going to use it on on a bunch of the top priced items. Paying a la cartel was the way to go.

How was the chocolate tart? Am I going to need a glass of milk to go with it?
The blackberry tart looked good but we were so full and we skipped a few things we wanted to try. It is on my list of things for Sunday.
