We're trying to do traditional anniversary gifts, so second is cotton. I have the ticket stub from our first date (Orioles game). I saw an idea on pinterest about printing and making a pillow. I don't have time to scan it and have someone else print it.
I've done it on an inkjet printer successfully. Press, then starch the crap out of the fabric (I used muslin), and cut it to the size your printer accepts. Use a piece of masking tape to reinforce the edge that feeds into the printer.
I did it last year for our 2nd anniversary. I only needed a 5x7 piece though, so I just ironed and double-sided taped it to a piece of heavy paper then put it through the printer. It worked perfectly.
I used the iron on transfers, it was really easy. You print on the transfer on your printer, then just iron it on. Make sure you do an inverse image since there are words on the tix.

They make printable fabric sheets. They're a little stiff, so they'd make a great pillow. I think Avery sells them. I've used them on birthday shirts before, they work really well.
