So, I've had a bunch of night time hot flashes but I had my first daytime hot flash. I'm so happy I was wearing layers cause I just went super hot. Super. And it was not fun. I was out having dinner/drinks with friends (who are in their early/mid-30s so wouldn't get it) and bam! Darn it.
Sweating and hot flashes are true torture and misery. My condolences. Layers are a good idea.
ETA: I have also noticed that when I'm anxious and enduring a hot flash, the new thing is my scalp becomes sweaty and it's like the third circle of hell up in here. Good times. I can't wait for full blown humidity this summer in Houston. Puke.

Yep, I'm with you! I told my leadership development workshop folks today that I was sorry but that they had to live with the menopausal woman being in charge of the room temp!
Luckily I haven't had any hot flashes yet. I only wake up with night sweats. Those are pretty miserable and I can't imagine going through that during the day with people around.
I highly recommend the Chillow for night time (I keep mine in refrigerator during the day so it's extra chilly) and I always have a giant insulated glass of ice water around for day time flashes.

I used something similar. I got this cooling mat from Amazon, and it was a lifesaver. I mostly used it on my pillow, but sometimes I use it under my feet. I used to think trying to sleep with cold feet was the worst, but now I know trying to sleep with hot feet is actually the worst!
I use a Chillow too and nothing but a sheet to cover. If my husband even looks my way. he's in trouble. He's a heater. Ceiling fan on high. I hate to be hot!!!
