Weekend fun?

My niece and her BF are coming. They are going to finish helping us unpack the last two closets in the house. I made dinner for tonight and we'll go out tomorrow. Landscape crew is coming to mulch and trim. I'll be glad to do something more fun eventually but I love hanging out with niece. Oh and her BF is going to detail my car. He has a side business. Yay, cause it's a mess.

Denver is supposed to get a blast of heavy snow. Maybe rain, maybe a foot or two of snow. Nobody seems to know! Argh!!! I'm on call with the police department for a 24 hour shift this weekend. I work as a victim advocate which means we get called to crime scenes, police department, and/or hospitals to assist victims of crime. Just hoping I can get to where I'm needed, if I'm needed.

Oh and taxes. Nothing like waiting till last minute!

We FINALLY got our new covered patio finished up today. Hoping to move all the new patio furniture and stuff out there and look for outdoor rug, planters, large plants etc. Next is ripping out carpet upstairs and getting new hardwood and new stair treads and getting the downstairs existing hardwood screened and looking nice. My pocketbook is empty but my heart is full

We are finally getting some beautiful weather here. Supposed to be in the low 70's all weekend. Between all the running around we have to do with the kid I'm hoping to get in some outside time.

This makes me think the calendar is off this year.  Easter was so very early and Passover isn't until next week and everything just feels off, like the world jumped the gun on spring (or autumn as the case may be).

Saturday DH has a 21st Birthday party to attend for one of his workmates. I'm letting him head off to the retro-themed pub by himself and I'll stay home with my book and a rom com.

Sunday DH wants to go to a record fair and meet up with a friend to pick up some Bowie Record Store Day exclusives the friend has for him. And I'm finally getting my Christmas present -- we're going to see The Proclaimers. Hopefully we'll be able to meet up with DH's BFF and her husband for coffee or dinner before they head off to the a Melbourne Comedy Festival show.

Lots of wind and rain and sideways blowing snow today while Denver got pummeled with snow (I'm 100 miles south of there and we seem to miss a lot of the snowstorms when the rest of the state gets hammered). My kid watched entirely too much iPad today but also got to play with her French babysitter and then we went to our French meetup group. Sushi for dinner tonight and I finally got to use my new stringer for my tennis racquet that I've had since Xmas (I needed some time to do it since it has been a few years since I strung a racquet). Groceries tomorrow and that's about it. Very exciting weekend!

I have a miserable cold. Caught it from my son who was home sick 2 days last week. We were going to work in the garden today, but instead I slept until noon. NOON! And now I'm walking around in a fog. I'm pulling out my MOTY dinner and hoping CPS doesnt swing by. You literally slice kielbasa, throw it in a crockpot with brown sugar, and let it simmer. In an attempt to Martha Stewart it up a bit I add some mustard powder and smoked paprika, but that's it. I'll serve it with green bean and some leftover roasted potatoes. We swear to each other we'll do the garden chores tomorrow. So no weekend fun for us, is what I'm saying.

DH and I were in San Diego this week, him for work and me for play. We had a ridiculously early flight home yesterday, and are just recovering. I forgot what an asshole DH is when we travel, so we are currently not speaking.

I just got home from a long weekend in Mexico on a girls trip. Three friends from college and I do a trip together every year. We didn't start the trips right after college and have taken years off here and there, but I think this was our 14th trip together! It was a lot of fun.

I have a kielbasa MOTY dish, too. Cut it into 4-5" pieces, brown briefly, dump in a can of crushed pineapple in heavy syrup and about 1/2 or so cup of green salsa. Cook till the sausage is tender, serve over rice. OMG, so good.

Saturday went garden shopping and my dad came for dinner.
Yesterday i worked for 9-5 hours

My oldest did come home this weekend, but i hardly saw him.

I went out for cocktail hour with two friends on Friday.
Was completely lazy on Saturday.
Went out for a pub lunch and a quiz night on Sunday.
It was a fun weekend.
