We're closing on a house next week and have a great patio area with built in flower beds. I need something that we can plant in there for a privacy screen while not attracting bees. We have two close friends who are VERY allergic to bees, and would hate for them to not come over. I'm thinking of ornamental grasses but would like some other ideas I'm also going to add some colorful curtains for extra privacy since our next door neighbor's window looks directly at the patio.
PIP from the listing:
Our patio furniture colors are mossy green, blue, and yellow.

I too would do grasses. There are quite a few with color that don't attract bees. Just make sure you avoid lavender and vine flowers - those really do attract bees. Also tomatoes don't really attract bees much and they yield salsa and do great in full sun.
I might also consider bamboo. I've never grown it before, but you can get different varieties and there are some that are great in the CO weather. The botanic gardens has a few varieties to check out.

Oh, inside that raised trough? I'm sorry, I didn't see the picture the first time I looked at this post. You could build a line trellis and plant a vine. I don't know what zone you're in, but some vines don't attract bees (Virginia creeper, Ivy).
