I've got my maternity photos coming up soon, and I am AT A LOSS with what to wear. being so close to the end, I don't REALLY want to buy much that's new if I don't have to.
I have this dress in the dusty green color that i'll probably also wear to my shower in a few weeks
I also have a navy non-maternity dress that's a jersey knit, with a crossover top and an empire waist. is it weird to wear blue when you're having a girl?
both options seem kinda BLAH, but I could dress them up with accessories.
any other ideas? my brain isn't going at full capacity!

I have nothing much to add except I feel you on everything. We're doing ours this weekend (I'm 31 weeks) and I can't decide what to wear AT ALL. I have 3 options from Pink Blush at home, none of them wow me. One of them is really fitted which is good because it shows off my belly easily, but also shows off every other lump on my body. My sis in law steered me away from anything too loose because you have to hold your belly to show it in every picture, but it seems like most maternity pictures are like that anyway. And I have 3 more dresses from Nordstrom coming to try this week, and one from Amazon. I feel like I've seen so many great dresses in pink, but also feel weird because I'm having a boy. But I'm sure that's just silly. Or they're black, and I'd like to wear something a little more spring-y. Anyway....sorry to vent and hi-jack. That dress you posted is really cute. There are some really cute ones on Pink Blush- I don't know where you're located but they take a week to get to me. And some cute ones on Nordstrom that I ordered yesterday and will be here by Friday. Just a heads up if you're in a time crunch.
not sure yet, still waiting to hear from my photog! but probably outdoors. NO RAILROAD TRACKS, and maybe somewhere in our downtown area (we have engagement and wedding photos down there, so it might be cool to do the same for these). lots of shorter old buildings and wrought iron and fountains.
I wore jeans and a tank for mine. You can add a flowy kimono or a necklace. Also, the jersey dress work work great too. I think anything that accents the belly is great for maternity pictures.

snipsnsnails i love that look....but i'm in GA. and 8 months pregnant. the high today is 82, i would quite literally probably burst into flame in that outfit, lol

yeah i thought about seeing if i could do some dress pics, and then change into jeans and a black tank for something a little more casual! (and MAYBE add some red lipstick, because why not??)
If you didn't want to go the dress route and something more contemporary with the urban setting, I love this.
My friend did a flower crown and white boho dress. It was gorgeous, though not quite right for the setting here.
I love all body-con dresses on pregnant bumps. Stripes, florals, solids, you name it. Show it off!
I think if you can, I'd do this (if you want to wear a dress). I think the flowy dresses in this length doesn't come off as well in pictures (or you always have to hold your stomach in the right way). I could see a long boho dress though if you wanted to go that route. Or I guess a maxi, but just not this mid-length loose style.

One thing--think about the types of poses that you like and/or your photog commonly shoots for maternity. Specifically, do you want any bare belly images? If so, you'll want at least one option that includes pants. I know that sounds obvious, but you would be surprised with how often it is an issue!
I think maxi dresses/skirts are often really flattering for maternity pictures, but you do have to be conscientious of belting and/or hand placement:
This type of posing with a maxi dress tends to be more flattering.
This type of posing tends to be less flattering:
If you don't have a maxi dress/skirt you love, am I right in remembering you in a blue dress at a wedding recently? What about that, maybe belted?

Cute for a casual look! I even have some full panel red skinnies that I'm happy to send if you want them. They're languishing in some maternity clothes bin, never to be worn again.

I love the look of white for maternity, I think it's so simple and you can make the focus on the bump. Or any solid colors really too. I did a maxi for one look (in royal blue) and a body-con dress in shimmery white for my other.
I think jeans and a peasanty top could be cute, but aren't really my style.
