I am fat and lazy, I have no excuses for not losing the baby weight yet. I am 5-10lbs away, depending on what I ate that day. Lol.
I was very overweight for my height and I didn't start gaining weight until after 16 or 18wks. By the time I delivered, I think I gained 24lbs. I lost all but 3 of those pounds within a few weeks after delivery but then it has crept back up.
I do regret not losing more weight before I got pg. I wish I was 20lbs lower than my starting pg weight but again, I am fat and lazy. I actually just started training for a half marathon and got injured a month before I got pg. After that, morning sickness kept me nauseous until 20wks and then my back went out on me for the first time ever in my life. 4wks of PT later, I just said eff it and never went back to working out. Lol.
I gained 28lbs throughout. I have lost 10 of those. my child is 3. I am very much struggling to lose the weight.
However, you shouldn't stress about this now. You need to be healthy and eat well while you're pregnant. Some gain more, some gain less. As long as you are healthy in your eating, you will be okay.
I am 5'4" and started my first pregnancy around 160lbs.
I gained almost 45 lbs (yikes), but the last 15 was water weight. It came on very quickly at the end (maybe 34-36 weeks I gained 13 lbs) and was SO swollen. When I returned to work at 12 weeks pp I was 5-7 lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight, and by 6 months pp I was below it. 1 year pp and I was 10 lbs lighter than when I started. Yay!
Then I got pregnant with #2. I gained 35 lbs, with much less swelling. The weight came off a little slower the second time. I was 10 lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight when I went back to work, but again, by 1 year pp I was 10 lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight (20 lbs below where I started with #1).
I continued to exercise throughout both pregnancies and afterward as well.
Oh but I am. My blog shows the trip when I got pg and I weighed 178 in those pics. I am also 5'6 like you! Womp womp. I topped out at 202 I think. Most of it came on in the last handful of wks, probably due to my weekly trip to Cold Stone. Ha!
I waiver b/w 183-188 on any given day for the last three mos. I hope to get back on a workout routine after we move so here's to losing some weight soon!

I was about 10-15 pounds overweight before I got pregnant, some of which was bloat/weight gain from IF treatments.
1. By 20w, I had gained 20 pounds, which is right on target for twins.
2. I gained 50 pounds while pregnant.
3. It took me until they were about a year old to lose all my pregnancy weight. Now at 21 months post-partum, I'm below my pre-pregnancy weight by about 5 pounds and at my wedding weight.
Before I got pregnant, I was convinced I'd never lose weight I gained while pregnant and was very worried about it. However, I didn't find it hard to lose the weight. I didn't even try that hard (and I didn't BF), so I probably could have lost it faster. I'm not at all concerned about the ability to lose the pregnancy weight when/if we have #3. Pregnancy weight seems much easier, for me at least, to take off then weight gained through just regular bad eating.
I was only slightly overweight when I got pregnant, but I gained 55 lbs during pregnancy. I believe I had gained about 20 lbs by 20 weeks. I gained a lot more than I should have during the first tri due to no m/s and a ravenous appetite. I'm down to 20 lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight (4 months post-partum).

I was about 25 pounds overweight when I got pregnant. I am 5'7. I am 26 weeks and have gained 11 pounds so far. I project it will be around 25 when it is all said and done. *keeping fingers crossed*
With #1 I gained 40 pounds. Lost all of it and more and then I stopped nursing and it came inching back.

How much had you gained mid-way through your pregnancy?I think at 20 weeks I had gained about 18lb.
How much did you gain total? 40lb
Do you think you had any additional difficulties losing the weight because you started your pregnancy overweight? Honestly the weight melted off without any trying on my part. By 3w pp I had lost 35 pounds. At my 6w checkup I was back to my pre-preg weight. Now 18 weeks pp I'm down a total of 52lb. (12lb below my pre-preg weight)
I'm 5'4 and was 150 pre-pg with DS. I only gained 18 lbs. and didn't start gaining until midway through 2nd tri. I lost all but 3 lbs by the time I left the hospital (8.5 lb baby will make that happen), but gained some back with breastfeeding.
This pregnancy started 5 lbs heavier than the last and my body seems to be doing the exact same thing since I'm 14 weeks and haven't gained anything yet. Time will tell though.
I think I didn't gain much due to the fact that I really had to control my cravings and impulse to "eat for two" due to a pre-existing medical condition. For the health of my child, I couldn't eat whatever/whenever I wanted and that really had an impact.

I had some friends who this happened to them as well!
I was 181 when I got my BFP. I lost another 6lbs during the first 10 weeks, so I'd probably only gained 5-6 pounds halfway through (back up to 180ish).
I gained about 19lbs total, which my OB was happy with.
I actually weigh less now than when I got my BFP, and that happened within 2 weeks pp. So I don't think there has to be difficulties.
(FWIW, my BMI at 181 was slightly overweight, and even now I am at the high end of healthy)
I was overweight when I had #1, gained 20lbs, lost the weight immediately, then gained it all back because I was Ssoooooooo hungry while bf-ing. This time, I am obviously heavier, have gained 10lbs in 24 weeks...hoping to stay under that 20lb mark and make better food choices when finished.
I did not consider myself overweight although I guess technically I was.
How much had you gained mid-way through your pregnancy? 12 lbs How much did you gain total? 33 Do you think you had any additional difficulties losing the weight because you started your pregnancy overweight? Nope, the weight fell off! I was back to my old weight when I went back to work at 12 weeks. After a year of BF and starting running seriously last fall, I'm my lowest weight in like 6 years - 15 lbs less than my pre partum weight.
Try not to put too much pressure on yourself. You'll be fine.
I was (and still am) very overweight. Was 272 when I got pregnant, down to 253 at 20 weeks. Partly due to nausea (although I rarely threw up) and decreased appetite. Also I ate healthier and drank fewer calories once pregnant so I think that played a part. At my last appointment at 26 weeks I was up to 260. My appetite is back and I think I will continue to gain. My hope is to end up around where I started. My doctor recommended I gain no more than 35 lbs. He said losing weight was normal for someone my size and that women tend to gravitate towards a healtheir weight while pregnant.
I am 5'3'' and weighed 144 before my 1st pregnancy. I gained 40 pounds that pregnancy but I don't remember what I had gained at the halfway point. Going into this pregnancy I weighed 149 (I never lost those last 5 pounds from the first pregnancy:( ). I had no idea I was "overweight" but my BMI was 26. My OB still recommended 25-35 pound weight gain but I am hoping to keep it to 25 pounds. At 20 weeks I was up 9 pounds. Now at 33 weeks I am up 20 pounds. I am going to have to be careful in order to come in around 25 pounds
I am the highest I've been since I was 15, and I'd guess I was ~25# heavier then than I am now. I hated how big I was way back when.
We were having TTTC and I had the sads and I gained 20# in the last year. We'd ordered P90X2 and it arrived the day before my BFP and at the 12mo mark for TTC. The universe has a sense of humor, it would seem.
So P90X2 it is for me as soon as the doc clears me, PP! MrBAMF is a marathoner and we believe his body fat is in the single digits. I hate that he is smaller than me. Makes. Me. Batty. And I really miss my smaller clothes.

I'm a bit late to this but I was about 15-20lbs overweight to start with because of IF treatments. I gained 45lbs, though my doctor was never concerned and never mentioned my weight gain. DS is 1 now and I'm at my starting pregnancy weight, which of course is still 15-20lbs over where I want to be. I know as soon as I find the time to workout again it shouldn't be too hard to lose. Though I should mention I was 41 when I got PG which I think is also making it a bit more difficult to lose. You're a youngin in that respect
I was a size 18/20 when I got pg the first time. I gained 12lbs total, most in the first half. So the first half I got constantly chastised for gaining weight and the second half I gained almost nothing, and at times lost weight... so I got chastised for "dieting". DD was 8lb 1oz of that weight.
But here's the catch - I wasn't dieting. I was eating normal food. Plus a strawberry milkshake every.single.day. When they started really badgering me to gain weight, I was putting half and half on my cereal and adding cream to my whole milk. Being pg for me is like being in the twilight zone - where in normal life I eat an ounce and gain a pound, when I'm pg I eat pounds of food and gain ounces.
My 2nd pg, with a new, non-chastising OB, I gained 8lb and had a 8lb9oz baby. I was a size 16 when I got pg.
This time I've gained 4lb so far (15wk), again starting as a size 16.
I tend to lose the weight before I leave the hospital (duh, most of it was the baby and placenta), but my clothes still don't fit for months afterwards and no one is envying my flabby gut.

I gained a total of 5 lbs. I lost a little in the beginning and slowly gained it back +5 towards the end. But I was also more than a little a bit overweight. I had some complications after delivery and couldn't exercise for a while. I gained more weight after delivery than I did during my pregnancy. I had a really hard time losing weight while breastfeeding, but once I weaned I was able to lose weight pretty steadily.
I wasn't technically overweight, but I'm about your size, so I'll chime in. I was 140 pre-preg (i'm also 5'3"), and I gained 30 lbs (maybe 10-15 by 20 weeks.) At 6 mos pp, I'm 147. I haven't put in much effort to lose, but I still thought it would come off faster. I BF, and that made me so hungry for the first few months that I couldn't lose weight.
Also 5'3" and was 140 when i got pregnant. That is 10 over my ideal weight as i am a big weight lifter so i hover at the top. Anyways i am 34 weeks and 18 up. I am convinced those extra 10 i had pp have prevented me from gaining much. Like my body knew i had my fat reserve. With my son i gained 35-40 lbs so this pregnancy will be alot less since i am delivering at 36 weeks.

My weight gain has been the same each time. Nothing in the 1st tri (or even a loss) and then 5 lbs for each month of the 2nd tri. Then I put on about 10 lbs for the rest of the PG. It's never really changed no matter what I did. With my 1st and 3rd PG I worked out a lot ... still gained. With my 2nd PG, I never worked out, but ate really well and gained the least. I also had untreated GERD until the last couple weeks and even water gave me HB, so I think that "helped" a little.
I guess I tend to think that as long as your sensible, your body will know what to do.
