We met with the architect and paid our deposit yesterday, so the kitchen renovation is officially a 'go'. I am nervous. 6 weeks without a kitchen is going to be tough! We meet with the interior designer on Monday to pick hardware and tile, eee!
Why do they only put one belt loop in the back of women's jeans? I need at least three; my belt slips off over the waistband every 2 seconds and it drives me nuts. Or- why don't they just make the waist of pants small enough that I don't have to wear a belt every day?
It's been super humid and windy for two days but it won't just rain already. My hair and my garden need it to break!
That's so exciting glw! I am assuming you already have something in mind you want?
I took today and slept in. Now I am sitting on the couch drinking coffee with no real plans for the day.
We need to do some yard work this weekend, clean up the house a bit, but other than that, for the rest of the weekend our plans consist of reading and watching movies.
I have the weirdest sunburn on my knees from being at the Cubs game last weekend. My calves are pasty white, then I have bright red knees and pasty white thighs. It looked really funny in my running shorts last night.
Ooh, I have definitely been there. Also the weird top-down sunburn where my chest and tummy are red, with pasty white boob-shadows.

Yes, we have it pretty well figured out, I think. (Warning, way too many photos to follow. This is my life now. )
Our house was built in the 20's and has craftsman elements throughout, so we wanted to take the kitchen back to a period-appropriate style but still have modern conveniences.
We're set on shaker cabinets, soapstone countertops, glass and mullion upper cabinets, and a contrasting furniture-like island. Similar to these:
We're also going with a farmhouse sink and ceramic tile backsplash, but we need to decide if we're getting a stone, ceramic, or stainless sink, and the color and size of the tile. Probably will go with a stainless sink and white or slightly green or grey subway tile. We also have to pick the stain for the cabinets and the hardwood floor. And the fixtures...and the cabinet hardware. And the appliances. Ack, it's a lot.

I'm excited to see your finished kitchen! It's going to be beautiful.
This weekend will be pretty laid-back for me. Will probably work quite a bit, dye my hair and run errands and such. No fun plans but that's okay because I have stuff that I'd like to get done. Really I just can't wait for today to be over.

Yay for new kitchen! I love the look of those cabinets!
I'm ready to get the fricken weekend started and will do so here shortly! It's sunny and clear today, so that makes me super happy, plus I'm mostly packed up and ready to hit the road once I get home.
