Argh! So, we've never been thrilled with our dishwasher, does only an okay job if we always run it on the Pots & Pans heavy/extra cycle. H has replaced the thermostat twice now I think. Now something else is wrong and the stupid thing broke again. He's "pretty sure" if just needs a new door latch assembly, which he can order online for about $50 after taxes and shipping. It would take 1-2 weeks though to get here.
Alternately, do we look at just getting a new machine since we never loved this one anyway? But then we're talking at least $600 as I see no point in doing a base end of $300ish to replace this one with another kinda crappy one. Plus, getting a new one would require taking time off work for that insane delivery window option when we've both done that so much recently.
Bleh, I think frugality will win, even though it's another 1-2 weeks and neither of us has the energy to deal with dishes right now.
I'd buy a new one. There are plenty of places that will be having sales soon and offer delivery on weekends (home depot or lowes, maybe both). If its in the budget I say get a new so you don't keep tossing money for something to work 'meh'

I would buy new too. I am not sure how old the one you currently have is, but the new ones are way more efficient. It will probably almost pay for itself in water savings. We got a new one last year and it's been amazing!
If you can hang in there shop around memorial day. There are great deals!
Memorial Day, good call. Maybe we can chuck the $50 at this to get us until then or something. We just have MIL's service next week and don't have the brains to invest in research right now.
agree with buy a new one. We got our condo dishwasher on sale for $300 and it honestly has been fantastic, no complaints at all. I believe it is Amana brand.
Yea I agree with the other girls! I mean ours came with the house, and I am not super impressed but I wouldn't buy another one right now since we plan to sell in 2 years, and it works. But in your situation I would
We ordered the part and I'm okay with hoping that works for now and then trying to have the brain to research for Memorial Day sales and look at buying then and if not then, then the next major sale time (4th of July?). I get to go spend today washing all the dishes in the kitchen regardless.
That being said, I have had cheap dishwashers, and expensive dishwashers, and I've never been able to tell the difference. Personally I don't know that I'd go all out on a new one versus just buying a standard model, but others may have had a different experience.
