A realtor just came to our house. We rent. I guess he sold the house to our landlord originally and he said our landlord is looking to sell and wanted to know if we were interested in buying. We aren't in a position to buy and damnnnnnit I don't want to move! Gahhh. This is the sucky part of renting. It happened at our old house, too.

Well, she's a tenant. The landlord sold the house. Unless the purchaser agreed to buy without looking in OP's apartment (or the whole structure, if she's renting a house) then presumably they entered without her permission. I'd be pretty pissed about that, if that happened to me.

That sucks. Our old landlady asked if we wanted to buy the house we were renting too. We declined, bought our new house, and now she's renting to someone else. I guess she didn't really want to go through the hassle of listing her house. Maybe yours isn't that serious? ALthough you would think so if she already talked to her realtor.
What sucked at the last house is that we were in a great financial position and interested in buying that house but the owner wasn't interested in selling. Then we got a 30 day notice to move out on the front door he sold the house to a friend of his instead. Lame!

I miss being a renter in California - we had so many more protections against insane rent increases, landlords selling out from under us etc. In Mass everyone seems to assume all renters are students who can be treated like utter crap.
I'm in California! I dont think we are on a lease anymore, I think it was a one year and we've been here for 4.

Oh yeah, if you're in CA you probably have a bunch of protections if you've been living there more than one year. You can still be evicted, buy it takes time.
Wasn't there a crazy case in which a live in nanny or housekeeper refused to leave the home when fired and it turned out she was covered?

I will say this is my dream situation where we live though, I daydream our landlord wants to sell the house to us for a great price bc we're such nice people, lol
