So my new floors, aside from the last bit of trim, are done. I'm going to be buying 2 area rugs- one for the living room and one for under the dining table. My question is about my dining table. I got it cheap ($100) from a friend of my dad's when I moved in. The table is solid, although it needs to be refinished. The chairs are sucky and need to be replaced.
What would you do here?
A. Buy a whole new set (dark wood to match the floors) B. Buy a whole new set (light wood for contrast to the floors) C. Refinish the table and buy new chairs (if so, what color/colors?) D. Keep it as is.
I feel like I asked this before but I wasn't super serious about changing it up until the new floors.
Please don't mind the mess. This table is a catch all right now as I'm not bringing any other storage back up until the trim is done.
I reckon it would look nice with a medium wood (not too dark or light) and some white chairs for contrast. But that is my kind of style I've been going through all the same things planning for my new house, lots of Pinterest-ing! The new floor looks great!
I would paint the table a bright color, and get new chairs. The floor is modern, the wainscoting/beadboard is victorian/traditional, the table is country/traditional...so painting it a fun color like red/bright pink/aqua would bring it all together.

I have a round table that expands to an oval and LOVE it. I can add a fifth chair easily without expanding. Mine happens to be painted white because that's my style. If you keep yours, I think painting the legs and apron white and staining the top dark would be pretty, then get a set of 4 new chairs. I love the look of the colored windsor chairs (link) on the Target website.
I have a set almost exactly like that. I am getting ready to restain the top in a darker color and paint the bottom black. I am going to paint the chairs black

I love all the ideas! Thanks all! Budget wise though, I think I'm going to have to refinish the table and buy new chairs. Unless I find a hard-to-pass sale or a Craigslist/garage sale find. I have a friend who likes to do that kind of stuff so I'll lure her into helping me with some wine I'll keep you all posted.
