We are looking for a nicer espresso machine and coffee grinder. We have one that was around $400 and have had it for 8 years or so. I'm not sure what my target price is. We make all of our coffee at home and both of us drink it.
If you just prefer grinding fresh and don't necessarily need the whole machine thing, have you checked out an AeroPress? It seems like every coffee enthusiast I know swears by using that with a Porlex ceramic burr hand grinder. The grinders can be a little pricey but the AeroPress itself is practically free.
I will look into the AeroPress and Porlex. My h is the main coffee drinker and maker.
DH has a Saeco from Seattle Coffee Gear. It's a refurbished fully automatic machine. Grinds, tamps, and brews. It pulls really nice shots and has a milk frother attachment.

If you want an auto machine that does it all look at the Saeco Vienna Plus. Latte love and Seattle coffee gear are great resources to purchase, but to also watch their you tube channel and see reviews.
Breville makes decent products too.
I have a nespresso now (cheaply one) and I miss my auto machine a lot. Go for the gusto and get the good machine
We have a Gaggia Anima that we got about a month and a half ago. I like it so far but my only complaint is I wish the espresso came out a little bit hotter. We debated the Breville above but I liked the one touch milk based drink option.
Are you looking for manual or automatic? I used to have a super automatic De Longhi, and while I liked it, I wouldn't buy that again. But I have friends that have a Jura and it is amazing coffee, easy cleanup, and very consistent.
I know manuals make better coffee technically, but ain't nobody got time for that. Disclaimer: I currently have a Nespresso until I can justify the cost of a Jura.
