Thanks everybody! He is so cute!! Yesterday I held him for a while in the hospital and his eyes were open. Mama is doing quite well, getting the hang of BF, so quiet and confident. I was nervous with my firstborn! D is a nurse so maybe that instilled more confidence. They went home today. Yay! For those who asked about his name, feel free to PM me. It's a great name but I doubt D would want me to post it publicly. Ha!
Didn't get to see him today because I was on-call, but maybe a quick visit tomorrow. H and I are quite smitten. This is so fun that he lives within driving distance.

@courtneyl, congratulations! I want to be a grandmother SO BAD - and my kids know it - baby snuggles! mags, I am sorry this is a rough week for you. I hope time passes quickly, with good memories to sustain you.
Me? Our annual convention is in two weeks, in Philadelphia. You'd think it was out first convention, not our 147th (and my own 25th), the way people are behaving around here with last minute rushing around (my pet peeve -- plan ahead, folks! Lock it up!) When 20,000 (insert profession) people are attending and we have a HUGE name keynote speaker on the first day (trying to be Internet-privacy-savvy here), it would behoove you all to frickin' pay attention early and often, not at the last minute!
In happier news, today is Cinco de Mayo and we are having the kids and their SOs to a taco/'rita dinner. And tomorrow I WFH so I can imbibe with abandon. And tomw night my H will be taking care of his dad (who has dementia), so I made plans to go to a friend's house and assemble sunroom furniture with her, and drink champagne. No plans for Saturday, other than apparently de-toxing. On Sunday, I am taking my mom to the bar my daughter works at, so we can have three generations of Mother's Day fun while my daughter serves us mimosas.
We are on the downward slide into the weekend ladies! Woot Woot.
H's birthday is this weekend. He has been saying all he wants is a nice dinner out. Hmmmm, that is easy enough. Last night he declared that since we were staying home this weekend, we would begin a tour of our city with dinners out on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hell yeah, I am in! Our city has a huge festival that begins this weekend too, maybe a walk through the park to view all the flowers will happen.
I am looking so forward to drinking margaritas tonight. Always a fun drink, in a fun glass.
If you don't hear from me in a while, it will be because I killed DH over this renovation.
Good luck. We're beginning renovation project number two (in one year) at the end of this month and it's a doozy. I hope we both don't kill our H's!
We're doing the bathroom and kitchen right behind it (contractors are moving from the bathroom plumbing then straight to the kitchen plumbing, followed by the electricians). It works so smoothly until my DH gets involved. Just do YOUR part, DH! STAY IN YOUR LANE!

childofhiphop, we're pretty much gutting the house and starting anew - it hasn't been touched since 1981 (MIL's house). We're putting in new electrics, new plumbing, new boiler system, new lighting, all new flooring, tearing down layers of wallpaper (and replacing with plaster & paint), extending the house to make a large kitchen/diner, new bathroom stuff in the two existing bathrooms (including knocking out a wall) and adding a bathroom to the loft bedroom. Plus a few extra bits and bobs. I've worked with our contractor before so I know that it'll go fine...as long as my H lets me make the decisions!
