Our baby grandson did not show up last week, so this morning eviction proceedings (pitocin) began. Hoping for a new baby boy in a few hours!! I plan to run down to the hospital as soon as my daughter gives the word. I'm so excited!
As of yesterday afternoon they still hadn't decided on his name. We took lunch to their house and visited for a while. She was admitted after dinner last night. They tried a gentler form of induction every four hours all night. Since that didn't work, pitocin was started a bit ago. They are in good hands at a very large baby factory hospital. Just waiting now...

Another busy week of packing. Movers come a week from tomorrow. Though this is only a temporary move, so no unpacking yet. Our house will be ready in September.

It's a busy week for me. Over the course of the week, I'm doing a deep houseclean for my annual rental inspection next Tuesday, one room each day with the final cleaning next Monday. Tuesday is ballet class day for me -- I am going to figure out the turn sequence! -- and DH has a meet-up with his political Twitter friends group because it's Federal Budget Night. I am the featured cook at an ESL cooking class on Friday so Thursday will be spent making the back-ups and working out the recipes for the class -- I'm demonstrating Smothered Green Beans & Potatoes over Rice, Cornbread, and Strawberry Shortcakes. The meal had to come in under $30 for 10 people and needed to be friendly for a range of dietary laws and I think I managed to find a meal I had growing up or that is typical of the area I grew up in that meets all the requirements. We have a dinner date with friends on Friday night, which will probably be very welcome after all the cooking. I don't even care if it's just at McDonald's! Saturday I'm doing a 5K Walk and more housecleaning. Sunday morning is the Kentucky Derby. The time difference is sometimes very surreal to me; there's nothing like a horse race at 8 in the morning! And Sunday is Mother's Day, so we're hosting my in-laws for dinner. I am so glad I decided on a crock-pot dinner with easy sides and dessert -- Chicken with 40 Cloves, Mashed Potatoes, Peas, and Cherry Cobbler.

I'm exhausted just reading all of this! I hope everything goes well and your meals turn out fabulous!
I'm on my third day in Sicily and it's really one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen (I didn't travel much in my thirties). I'm sitting next to the pool now, but will get up and drive to Siracusa and then later Noto for some art and history. Yesterday, I visited the Greek temples in Agrigento. The country side is unbelievably stunning. And Italians are still my favourite people. And the food...
Linie Where are you in Sicily? Io sono molto gelosi. L'isola è così bello!!
This is the roughest week of the year for me. My mom died this week a few years ago, add that to it being Mother's Day and my parent's anniversary and I just hate it!
mags, sorry you are going through this, it gets a little better as the years go by, I promise.
dorothyinAus, go girl go! I like to pack a lot into my days to, makes those days when I choose to DO NOTHING AT ALL, justifiable! (not sure that is spelled correctly or even a word)
Quick road trip today to my hometown to attend an appointment with my son. Just a checkup, but I like to be there to hear it all first hand. I made lasagna last night so all H has to do is put it in the oven later today and make a salad. MMMMMMM
I finally have the hotels booked for our trip and I'm moving on to the tour portion.
I am NOT waiting in line for hours at Versailles, so we are doing a bike tour with a timed entrance and we have to decide what we are doing in Normandy. I understand the beaches are tours only.
This is all killing my "fly by the seat of his pants" Aussie.
The trainer for my nervous dog has decided that he's ready for us to try the Million Paws Walk in two weeks. I need to decide if I'M ready. We have two contingency plans if he isn't happy ...

I'm in the South, near Noto. I love it! I'm a big fan of Italy anyway, and I feel like I'm in heaven...
I'm with you on missing your mother. My mum died 31 years ago on the 16th of May and mother's days is always so hard. It's also the only time of the year where I sometimes regret not having children myself...

We returned home from Thailand yesterday evening. It was the best vacation I've ever had. But to make this Olds appropriate, I ended up getting "cankles" from over 24 hours of traveling. They've thankfully gone down some today. My momma would suggest taking a fluid pill. I'm going to take an epsom salt bath instead.
glad you had an awesome trip! glad your cankles are deflating
2 of my kids are coming home this weekend! One for summer break and 1 for 3 days...woohoo
I love it when my girls come to visit. I have one on the East Coast and one in So Cal. Why did we let them go away to college? I need a do over where we stress going to junior college and then the local state college. "Don't follow your dreams, stay close to us!!!" Damn it! I guess not... fortunately, we are able to see them each every 2-3 months but it's few and far between times when we're all together. That's life.... Have fun with your kids!
