We need to start exploring scooter rentals for my mom. She uses a rolling walker on a daily basis but sis and I agree a scooter is going to be the best bet for the trip as it is soooo much walking and more than she can normally handle. has anyone rented these or dealt with this before?
I'd rent from somewhere like Buena Vista Scooters - the problem with renting from Disney is that you are limited to using them in the parks only. (You rent daily and have to return them to the place you rented then before park closing). Outside rental allows you to have the same one throughout the trip and it can go with you to the resorts or park to park.

We rented from Walker Mobility but I'm not sure they are one of the certified Disney dealers but they may be. We stayed offsite (WBC) and it was waiting at bell services at check-in. We returned it to bell services at check out so we never had to meet with anyone. If they aren't Disney certified and you are staying onsite, you will need to schedule a dropoff and pickup with them.
We rented a scooter that broke down into five pieces and it easily fit in the back of our minivan along with our stroller and other things.
Oh, and it was $205 for 8 days, including insurance. The ones you rent in the park are $50/day.
We had to rent scooters for my mom and MIL on different trips. We rented one for my mom for 10 days from Apple. It was reasonably priced--with taxes it was $18 per day.
It broke down into 4 pieces quickly to put in our trunk. We had a mid sized car. They delivered right to the resort.
