At my old office someone thought it would be a good idea to do this. I would literally unplug them. They'd leave a note to please leave it in so the "room can smell nice and fresh" and I'd unplug it. Eventually they gave up.
They give me nasty headaches. If I was a mature adult I'd have said something to HR.

I hate air fresheners, they are so gross. They seriously affect my sisters and bring out their ADHD. I pretty much always unplug them if I see them. I don't even care, I view them as poison.
I'm surprised you're allowed to have them at all. They trigger serious migraines for me, so I would raise hell.
The smell usually dissipates after a day or two, but the first day is overwhelming. It's starting to give me a serious headache.
The kicker is that it's right in the front of our main office area door, so to escape the smell, I have to wade THROUGH the smell.
Can you just tell them that they need to get rid of it? Maybe plug it into an extension cord on an open windowsill for a day or two for it to dissapate first?
Can you request a scent-free policy with HR? I think scent-free workplaces are becoming pretty standard right now.
This is a little LoL -- I work in an office where this would just be laughed at.
This is quite sad, actually. You're saying that someone with a legitimate health concern with scents would be "laughed at" as opposed to accommodated? I mean, there must be some sort of employee code that would mandate that...?

Okay, not openly laughed at and my annoyance with it, isn't exactly a legitimate heath concern.
Either way, I'm not interested in being the person to complain about it at this point.
Hmm..o.k. In that case, the "unscrewing the thing ever so slightly when she's not looking so it stops working", as mentioned by a PP might be something to try.
Yea, that would not fly with my coworkers. I have one who is VERY sensitive to scents. She's allergic to many of them, and strong scents will cause a serious reaction (headaches, hives, trouble breathing). She's had to leave work many times before because of other people wearing scents, or housekeeping waxing the floors.
This can be a legit health concern for many people.
