Has anyone done this before? If so, what did you use?
We had initially planned on getting a rental, but the way we have things planned, we could use the Magic Express and not need one until our last full day.
I'd hate to pay for a rental for five days when we only need it for one, but I'm not sure how that would work logistically.
We did it about 5 years ago. We were staying at pop century and the front desk helped us get a cab to get to universal. We didn't have kids then though- so didn't need to worry about car seats etc.
We have done a short rental from the swan/dolphin before. We walked over from Epcot to pick it up. I'm not sure the easiest way to do it from Coronado Springs and it's probably easier from the Car Care Center as I think they'll pick you up.
However I would consider getting it for the entire week especially since you're staying at a huge resort with multiple bus stops. I would consider driving to parks other than MK. Car rentals are really cheap in Orlando!

Wait, so CS doesn't have shuttles that go directly to the parks??

I should have researched this more.
It does but the bus has to go around the resort in a big loop stopping multiple times. In many cases it could be a lot easier to drive, other than to MK.

Ahh, gotcha.
Looks like there are three stops at CS. I'll deal. I feel like messing with parking at the parks would be way more of a pain?
But you could also do a one-day rental from the Disney Car Care Center.
Oooh, this might be a winner! You don't know about costs of renting through them, do you? I'm not seeing it online.
You have to use Alamo or National's direct site and select Orlando Disney Car Care from the list. If you just type in Orlando, you should get a drop down of options and you'll want to select the Disney one.

We did it in the other direction (Cabana Bay Hotel at Universal to Epcot) $14 Uber for the trip back to the hotel. First trip on Uber was free so it was a great deal for us especially with no parking
No kids, but the Uber app in Orlando had options for Uber Family which I believe is Uber with car seats?

Ooh, good to know!
I looked into the cost of renting through the Disney car center and it's $75 for one day. Ridiculous! Uber might be the way to go.

So just to clarify - it was 14 one way, and would have been about 28 return but because we don't have uber where we live it was my first time using it and the first trip is free . We did it mostly cos we wanted to drink in Epcot.
We were there about 10 mins before opening at 9am and had no surge pricing for the fare, but when I looked when I woke up at around 7:30 the pricing was 1.4x so take that into consideration.

We booked my sister and her husband a room at Saratoga Springs in February for them to go to Universal. They Ubered each day, and with different Uber discounts and deals, it was much cheaper for them than renting a car and parking. It was also cheaper and more convenient than the shuttles.
