I think I want to get my nipples pierced. Has anyone had any experience/tips? I like the looks of rings but I've read it's best to do barbells the first year. Any other tips or horror stories to talk me out of this?

I have a ton of ear piercings, but nothing else. The piercing salon I go to has a Tumblr page for all their NSFFB (not safe for Facebook) piercing pics. I'd never considered a body piercing other than my navel, which I let close years ago. I was looking at the Tumblr page, and they had a pic of a woman with both nipples pierced, and a 180* clicker, and they looked amazing. I also worry about the pain, and worry that DH will be icked out by them and won't want to play with my nips any more.
I know this helps you in no way, just wanted to say that I'm in the same boat you are.
I'm having a hard time typing this while crossing my arms over my nipples. Just the thought makes me shudder, but I hate anything touching my nipples. It's a wonder I was able to breastfeed.
I can't get it out of my head that it might hurt and then I would want to hit someone in the face. So obv I have no experience with this AND am no help to you AND should not have posted in here, but here I am anyway.
Same. Sorry kanga1, my post was not helpful either :/
I had it done right around the time of my period...I can't remember if it was before or during, but it was close. Don't do that. Please. It was a unique situation where and when I got mine done so I saw others get theirs done before me. One of my friends who has zero pain tolerance, seriously needed numbing cream to get a tattoo done, went before me and didn't even wince or jump or react. Ok, should be easy for me. Oh no. I thought I would vomit it hurt so bad. Anyway...I had a few days were it hurt fairly bad, was weird for sleeping, trying to hug people, etc but then it got better. I never had a lot of increased sensations from having it done. I had to have an EKG done for presurgical clearance about 7 months after I had them pierced and I didn't realize the nurse would make me take them out for an EKG, so I had to take them out at my appointment and by the time i got out of my appointment they had already healed up too much for me to easily out the barbells back in. I probably could have shoved them through but I got the jitters when they didn't just slide back in. I felt kind of sexy at times when I had them in, like I had this secret or something, but physically once the pain was gone they didn't do much for me. Maybe I'll redo them one day but it's not huge on my list currently. My piecer did make people start with barbells, I don't know if that's her rule or typical practice.
Oh and horror stories? Watch out for shower poofs when you are showering. Or loose strings if you are sleeping naked. Ouch. And definitely no bear hugs for the first couple of weeks after they are done lol.

Mine didn't hurt. I had them both done at he same time by a piercer on each side and it only took 30 seconds. Rings are best at first so you can rotate them. I haven't had issues with sensitivity, but now that I have switched to barbells when I'm chilly without a bra it looks like I have 6 nipples. And yes, watch out for shower poofs! They are a little sore at first and I wouldn't get it done in the winter because it's odd the rings get cold first when healing.
I have mine done, and I didn't find it painful. To be honest, I don't have much sensation in my nipples after breastfeeding my two daughters. They were extra sore maybe two days later, but then they were fine. If you have a high pain tolerance, then I don't foresee you having any problems. I had heard horror stories of people only getting one done because of the pain, so I was pleasantly surprised it didn't hurt too badly. They do take up to a full year to fully heal, which I've never dealt with concerning piercings before, but I just continue to clean them daily with the dial and haven't had any problems.
I dont go here, but thought I could chime in because, well, I have experience. I had mine pierced when I was 20 and had them in for 10 years. Of course it hurt to get it pierced, but not like excruciatingly or anything. It was super tender for about a month. I had to be really careful putting bras on and off, and drying off after a shower. I felt like it definitely heightened sensation in a good way. I did have barbells but switched to hoops after they healed.
I only removed them because I was six months pregnant with my first and they were starting to be very uncomfortable. I had no issues breastfeeding (dont know if that's a concern of yours) bfing basically killed all sensation in my nipples, so I cant speak to loss of sensation but I have heard of it happening. Which would suck
NandaB , cbt007 , those are the kind of responses I was hoping to hear! Makes me excited to get them. Breastfeeding DD didn't go too well and as of now I'm pretty sure I'm one and done so that won't be an issue anyway.
