My hair is a soft brown with gray that has grown in a way to frame my face and every single hairstylist I've been to is like "don't color since you look like you have highlights already". Part of me wants a change and part of me feels grateful to avoid the costs associated with hair color. I have a short pixie-ish style hair cut.
What color is your hair? Do you color and at what age did you start due to graying? Do you color at home or a salon? Have you always colored and/or changed things up or are you more a stick to your favorite style and color?

What color is your hair? Currently highlighted Do you color and at what age did you start due to graying? I started highlighting my hair in High School, so about 30 years, LOL. Not sure when the grays starting showing, maybe somewhere in my late 30's Do you color at home or a salon? Salon Have you always colored and/or changed things up or are you more a stick to your favorite style and color? I had my medium brown hair highlighted starting in high school and until my late 30's. Then I decided to go back to my "natural" color. Did that for a few years and got bored so then started coloring it super dark in the winters and switching to highlighting in the summers. I also like adding in fun colors (purple, pink, etc). I get bored easily now.
What color is your hair? Dark brown almost black (level 2 color)
Do you color and at what age did you start due to graying? I was always doing something whether it was highlighting, going red, blonde, or purple. Probably around 40 I hated the sight of anything grey in my hair. I wish I had the kind of grey that looked like snow. Do you color at home or a salon? Salon, when broke I had tried home stuff and it never looked as good as a salon. (plus it was a mess, they probably have improved since the olden days) Have you always colored and/or changed things up or are you more a stick to your favorite style and color? I changed it a lot, but always seem to go back to long dark hair. My favorite was putting in a few hidden purple highlights, but now that everyone looks like a mermaid it isn't that special.
What color is your hair? Natural color is black-ish, but that applies more to the crown than the front, which is some kind of gray/white mix (I think). Currently it's a purplish black...obviously not my natural color. lol
Do you color and at what age did you start due to graying? Yes. I got my first gray hair at 21, but it was a long time before I had enough gray for that to be a reason to color. I first started coloring in my 30s, but it was because I wanted something more interesting than just plain black-ish hair, not because of grays, even though I did have them.
Do you color at home or a salon? Home. I tried salon and loved the results, but my hair grows really fast so it was too costly to keep up. I have been using eSalon service and love the quality and convenience, but I can't seem to get them to get the color as purple as I like, so I am going to discontinue it.
Have you always colored and/or changed things up or are you more a stick to your favorite style and color? I like change, both for color (although I have mostly stuck with purple-is in recent years), and cut..which is good since my hair has a mind of its own and every day is 'choose your own adventure' day for my curly hair. (Does anyone remember those books..my kids loved them?)
I just wish that I could find someone to cut my hair some way that I like. It has been sort of the same for quite some time, because I have been cutting it myself for many years. I got tired of paying people to give me exactly what I didn't want (Mom/Grandma cuts that looked 'done' or boring), when I could give myself something that I liked and if I screwed up I wasn't out any money. My hair grows super fast so it isn't a big deal if something goes wrong, which really didn't happen when we lived in CA. Unfortunately my mad hair cutting skills have not translated well to FL...my hair is not necessarily curlier, but it curls differently and I haven't quite been as consistent with good cuts as I was in CA.
I color my hair at home with Loreal Natural Blonde (hah!) #7. I used to go lighter, but the dark blonde is fine for now. I don't think I have any grey yet; I don't see any when the roots start growing out.
I am way too cheap to pay for salon coloring, but when the grey starts in and I want to transition back to natural, I think I will have to get some help.
What color is your hair? I think a light brownish color. I started coloring my hair blonde in HS when it started to darken and have never stopped. I haven't seen my natural hair since I was 14!** I still color it blonde, sometimes with some red too. Do you color and at what age did you start due to graying? Yes. I'm not sure since I have always colored. Do you color at home or a salon? Salon. Have you always colored and/or changed things up or are you more a stick to your favorite style and color? Mostly blonde with some occasional red.
**In HS, I used sun in to color my hair. I am sure many of you remember it.
What color is your hair? Silver, used to be dark brown
Do you color and at what age did you start due to graying? Don't color anymore, but started at age 33.
Do you color at home or a salon? both. Salon every other month to color all of it, home on opposite months to color the outgrowth.
Have you always colored and/or changed things up or are you more a stick to your favorite style and color? Newp. Pretty boring here. I don't like to fuss with hair.
What color is your hair? Light brown/dark blonde with highlights Do you color and at what age did you start due to graying? Yes. I started doing it on a schedule when I was 43 Do you color at home or a salon? Salon all the way. It's my spklurge Have you always colored and/or changed things up or are you more a stick to your favorite style and color? I am easily bored with my hair. It's been everything from a pixie to middle of my back, and from blonde to auburn. I'm currently 18 months into growing out a pixie a la Jennifer Lawrence's

What color is your hair? Naturally? Dark brown and white. Coloured? Medium reddish brown. Do you color and at what age did you start due to graying? I've been colouring since my early 20's and started greying in my mid-20s. Do you color at home or a salon? salon Have you always colored and/or changed things up or are you more a stick to your favorite style and color? I have gone red, brown, black and platinum blond. I have never gone natural since my early 20s - in terms of not colouring my hair. I'd say my current colour is very natural looking as the white hairs take on the colour differently than the dark brown ones.
What color is your hair? Dark brown with caramel and auburn highlights (My natural color was originally a dark brown.) Do you color and at what age did you start due to graying? Yes. 18. (Thanks Mom for the white hair genes) Do you color at home or a salon? I get a partial foil at a salon. Have you always colored and/or changed things up or are you more a stick to your favorite style and color? I have been coloring for 25 years. I only stopped when I was pregnant. I am lousy at coloring my own hair so I pay for a professional to do a partial foil every 12 weeks. The professional results look natural. I change from auburn highlights in the fall and winter to caramel highlights in the spring and summer. This gives me a little variety. Every now and again, she recommends a rinse because the 12 week cycle got extended a few too many weeks due to my busy schedule.
Funny story about my mom and hair color. She has gorgeous silver/white hair when she lets it go uncolored. When she was 40, she decided to let it go and enjoy it. Until she went out to lunch with a friend (5 years younger) and her daughter. A man leaned over and said how nice it was to see a woman out with her daughter and granddaughter. My mom hit the (coloring) bottle the next day and hasn't looked back since

Have you always colored and/or changed things up or are you more a stick to your favorite style and color?
I used to change colors frequently and drastically, now I do not. Stopped all that by about age 25.
I have tried changing my hairstyle but I am afraid, b/c I'm currently without a regular stylist that I can trust. They all seem to mess it up and it sucks big time. I have another haircut appointment tomorrow, with yet another new stylist. UGH.
**In HS, I used sun in to color my hair. I am sure many of you remember it.
Yes! My mom convinced me to try it when I was 15. My hair had gotten dark brown, and in-home highlights made me look like the Joker
In addition to the "lovely" sun in color, we also had well water. So I had nice orange highlights from the iron in the water running through my hair too.

My older brother spent one summer using sun-in for his hair and then when he got back to his rather conservative Catholic high school had to get a buzz cut because the color was so bad and it turned out the hair was not longer in compliance with the uniform code. And he has a grey patch down the back of his head from when he fell and split his head open -- he looked like a technicolor skunk! It was the end of sun-in type products in our house -- though we still tease him about it.
What color is your hair? Light brown with golden blonde highlights. Naturally it's about the same except now there's a little grey in there.
Do you color and at what age did you start due to graying? I've been coloring it since I was 42. I've recently become allergic to hair dye, so I'm trying to find alternatives to cover the grey
Do you color at home or a salon? Salon. I have a lot of hair and it's long. I don't trust myself to do a good job.
Have you always colored and/or changed things up or are you more a stick to your favorite style and color? I stick to the same style and color. I'm not adventurous with my hair at all. I only started coloring it because the greys were dulling my natural color.
