J has been cleared of any cancer. The mass is gone, and while he still has mild cirrhosis and fatty liver, we can control it. HOORAY.
Now we just need to buckle down with healthy eating and exercise and we're good to go.
He will be hopefully enrolled in a study to monitor NASH (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis/fatty liver disease), so hopefully we can find some answers or help other people this way. They believe it's genetic, which is what I first thought of since his grandmother died of liver cancer and cirrhosis of the liver at age 66 - and she was never a drinker, like ever.
I'm just glad we caught this early and we can do something about it. Others (like J's grandma) aren't so lucky.
Amazing news!!!! Congratulations and best of luck with the continued treatment. I have a good friend who has non alcoholic fatty liver and she has been very successful in controlling it with diet and exercise.
