I avoid listening to live performances from people who are getting older unless I've heard about them sounding amazing still. I've seen/heard enough to know that it makes me sad and kind of ruins them for me, so I try to live in denial and enjoy performers when they were at their best by listening to recordings. lol

I saw Simon & Garfunkel in 2009, then Paul Simon solo in 2013, and I thought both of them sounded better older than they did in the 60's-70's. I actually prefer the older Garfunkel than the younger one.
I didn't watch/hear Belinda sing and I'm glad that I didn't because I'd rather be oblivious than to be disappointed.
This is how I also feel about Duran Duran. I don't want to see them old or hear them sing like crap because they are getting old. I need to keep my 1980's teenage crush alive when it comes to them. To me they are still in their 20's and can still rock tight leather pants.
Duran can still rock tight leather pants and are sexier than they were in their 20s. Also, their new album is their best one since Big Thing.
I'm not silva , but I play her on The Olds. Lol. (OMG at this board, btw.)
I should check out their new stuff just to see what it's like. Although, now that I think about it, I did see them on an I Heart Radio special not too long ago and I didn't really care for the song but I remember John didn't look all that different and still looked good. John was plastered all over my bedroom walls and ceiling in high school. Lol

I honestly do think the Rolling Stones were great when I saw them on tv (was that a superbowl halftime show a couple of years ago?) but I've seen Paul Simon and Paul McCartney live within the last maybe 5 years or so and they were both ... disappointing. And I wish I hadn't. I saw Elton John a couple of years ago and he was fantastic. But I think I've seen the last of my live concerts of performers that were in their prime when I was in my prime too. Judy Collins is lovely in a recording studio, but even in her prime she was pretty awful live.

I saw Elton John late last year and he was great.
I'm surprised you found Paul Simon disappointing. I saw him in 2013 and thought he was great. I was disappointed by the lack of banter between the songs, but I thought he was fantastic. Most of the show was from the then new album So Beautiful, So What so a lot of people around me were upset there weren't too many of his hits, but I thought it was an excellent show -- and a great album. The solo show was definitely as good as when I saw Simon & Garfunkel.
