A quick intro - H and I have 3 kids, DD is 8 and DS's just turned 3. We went to WDW for 3 days in the summer of 2014 when DD was almost 7 and DS's were 15 months. Our focus was completely on what DD wanted to do. We stayed in a Little Mermaid room at AoA and spent 2 days in MK and 1 day at HS.
We talk about a longer trip in the future when DS's are able to enjoy it and hopefully remember it (maybe late 2017/early 2018) but when I try to compare rates for different times of the year, I can only go out so far. I'm sure the main reason for this is that rates change from year to year. I was just wondering what is the earliest you can book and are there other ways to book on property other than through the Disney website (not part of DVC and not currently interested).
Hi, you can book hotels 499 days in advance but you can't book packages until they're posted, usually 7 months in advance.
"When it comes to Walt Disney World resort rooms they can be purchased up to 499 days in advance. This is good news for those who plan on staying on property but who don’t want to commit to booking a whole package.
Walt Disney World vacation packages are also available 499 days in advance (well technically). The only catch to this is that Disney doesn’t necessarily release packages within that window. For instance, Disney has yet to release packages for 2017. Usually this happens at some point during the Summer. Last year they were released in June. This means that those planning on booking a package for January of 2017 will have to wait until 7 months before their travel date to book. On the other hand those going in Fall of 2017 will be able to jump in early and book their holiday a generous 16 months in advance."
I usually book about 7 months out. You can start making dining reservations at 6 months before your trip, so I book a couple weeks before that so I have time to figure out where we want to eat and all that lol
